Vickie Elizabeth Daniel

Vickie Daniel, age 71, passed away on June 18, 2024 at Lexington Nursing Home. Vickie Elizabeth Buxton was born on July 29, 1952 in Altus, Oklahoma, the 2nd of 7 children born to Richard Franklin Buxton and Erma DeLoyce (Blackmon) Buxton. She was primarily raised in Tipton, where she attended school and graduated with the Tiger Class of 1970. After graduating high school, Vickie went straight into the workforce. She worked several odd jobs until she made the decision to go back to school to further her education and vocational skills. Vickie attended nursing school in Vernon, Texas where she graduated in 1982 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was driven and dedicated to working hard every single day; She truly had a servant's heart and she loved her patients dearly! In 1983, Vickie moved to Purcell, Oklahoma after taking the position of Assistant Director of Nursing at Broadlawn Living Center (presently known as Sunset Estates). A short time later, in 1987, Vickie made the move to Phoenix, Arizona where she continued her nursing career. She worked in various settings and facilities, including hospitals, nursing homes, home health, and even hospice. After several years of dedication and service to her patients, she eventually retired in 2015. In her retirement, Vickie decided to move back to Oklahoma to be closer to her family. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, going to flea markets, and volunteering with the American Legion. In more recent years, when Vickie could no longer read, the library would send her audio tapes so she could still listen to the novels. Vickie was fun, sweet, and compassionate in nature, but she could also be stubborn too! She truly was a one-of-a-kind woman. More than anything, Vickie was a family woman. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and fur-baby, Louie. She cherished every moment with them. Vickie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a true friend. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: her late husband, Bill Daniel; her parents; grandson, Brandon Jones; little sister, Connie Sue Buxton; maternal grandparents, Zamo Elizabeth (McAnally) Blackmon and James Isaac Blackmon; paternal grandparents, Alford Franklin Buxton and Ina Belle (Wallace) Ousley Buxton Lambert. Vickie is survived by: her daughter, Lisa Jones and husband Nickey of Lindsay; son, Joe Don "Joey" Hilburn of Frederick; sisters, Karen Clifton of Lonegrove and Debra Hightower and significant other, Unique of Onancock, Virginia; brothers, Jim Buxton and wife Wanda of Wanette, Mike Buxton and wife Donna of Marietta, and Albert Buxton of Oklahoma City; 5 grandchildren, Tyler Jones, Trent Jones, Jordan Hilburn, and Marie and Emma Hilburn; 4 great-grandchildren, Kacee, Paige, Kayson, Riot, and a host of other family and friends.
