Annie Laura Williams

Annie Laura Reed Williams age 76 of Purcell, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at Purcell Municipal Hospital after an extended illness. She was born March 13, 1940 in Paris, Tennessee. She was the youngest of three children born to Marvin O'Neal Gaddy and Sallie Belle (McGee) Gaddy. Laura grew up in Paris, TN and graduated from Grove High School in 1958. After graduation, she attended nurses training at the local hospital, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse. While in training she met and married Don Ray Reed. He was a young navy man stationed at the base in Millington Tennessee. They married on January 23, 1960. After Don got out of the Navy, they moved back to his native state of Oklahoma, where he finished his education and became a high school teacher and football coach. They moved around the state of Oklahoma as he pursued his coaching career, finally settling permanently in Purcell in 1979. They raised two daughters, Anna and Margaret (Marge). Laura retired from the Purcell Municipal Hospital at the age of 67, after working on the floor as a nurse and then for many years in the Pharmacy. Two years after Don passed away, Laura married Doug Williams on July 4, 1992 in Purcell. Together they enjoyed 23 wonderful years together sharing two combined families of children and grandchildren. After they both retired, Laura and Doug enjoyed doing everything together. They loved going dancing three times a week in various towns throughout the surrounding counties, attending the Purcell Senior Citizens Center and were faithful members of the Johnson Road Baptist Church. Most of all she loved her family and loved spending time them during the holidays and at family get-togethers. She was preceded in death by: Parents, O'Neal and Sallie Gaddy; Two husbands, Don Reed on Feb. 25, 1990, Doug Williams on Nov. 9, 2015; She is survived by: Two daughters, Anna Reed of Norman, Marge Santos and husband Michael of Dallas, TX; Two step-children, Darla Delcambre of Purcell, Randy Williams and wife Doretta of Purcell. Two sisters, Marie Moore and husband John of Smyrna, TN. JoAnn Ward and husband Lonnie of Smyrna, TN. Six grandchildren: Leah Delcambre, Tara Anderson and husband Chad, Weston Sterling and wife Nicole, Tomi Guevara and husband James, Jennifer Williams, Lynnea Oubre and husband Chad. 11 great grandchildren, Many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. April 20, 2016 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
