Betty Ann Anderson

Betty Anderson, age 78 of Lexington, passed away Thursday March 15, 2018, at Rivermont Assisted Living Care in Norman, OK. Betty Ann Phelps was born in Purcell on May 9, 1939, to Les and Ruth Phelps, and is oldest of two daughters (Susie). Betty was raised in Lexington and attended school there, graduating in the Class of 1957, she then continued her education at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. On July 24, 1962, Betty married the love of her life and best friend, James "Red" Anderson, in Red's sister's garden in Wayne. Red worked for the railroad and they lived in both Oklahoma and Kansas, before settling in Pueblo, Colorado where they lived for 38 years. Together they raised five children; sons; Steve, Mike, Larry, and Jamie, and daughter Judy. Betty was an incredible homemaker, and her greatest joy was being a wife and mother. She was an amazing cook and seamstress, a gifted artist who loved painting, flower arranging, cake decorating, and all crafts. She was a nurturer and loved tending her garden. Betty was a woman of great faith and a longtime member of the First Southern Baptist Church (now Aberdeen Baptist Church) in Pueblo. She also retained long, close ties with First Baptist in Lexington. Betty was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a true friend. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: Parents; Les Phelps and Ruth Phelps Harrell; Second Father; Obble "Ob" Harrell; Grandson; Matthew Anderson; Betty is survived by: Husband; James "Red" Anderson, Norman, OK; Sons; Steve Anderson and wife Esther of Houston, TX, Mike Anderson and wife Rita of Oklahoma City, OK, Larry Anderson and wife Mandy of Parker, CO, Jamie Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO; Daughter; Judy Schulte and husband Don of Huntington Beach, CA; Sister; Susie Marcum and husband Norman of Topeka, KS; Second Brothers; Mike Harrell and wife Judy of Tecumseh, OK, Al Harrell and wife Carole of Mustang, OK; 15 grandchildren; Julia, Lauren, and Claire Anderson; Amy, Adam, Andrew and Aaron Anderson; Kylie and Jason Anderson; Bud and Katie Anderson; and Trevor and wife Mary, Kelsey, Donnie and Frankie Schulte; 2 great grandchildren; Kai and Cooper Schulte; A multitude of additional family and friends Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M.
