Bob Hynds

Robert George "Bob" Hynds, the son of Charley Miller & Annabelle Hynds was born 14 November 1928, in Amarillo, Texas. During World War II, while still a teenager, he started working for the Santa Fe Railroad. Wherever the maintenance crew moved, was his job and his home. In the early 1950's he took a leave from the railroad and enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Stuttgart Germany during his overseas duty and was discharged as a Corporal. He returned to the job with the Santa Fe which brought him to the Wayne and Purcell, Oklahoma area. While he was on that assignment, he met Norma Jean Smith at a local café. He apparently liked her cooking because it wasn't long until they were married and Norma followed him with their mobile home. After retirement from the Santa Fe, they moved to Wayne to have a more stable place for their sons to go to school and to be near Norma's parents. Bob became a janitor for the Wayne Schools and later for the Purcell Courthouse. He was mowing yards, and to keep him in business and his lawnmowers in good running order, Norma started her own lawnmower repair shop. Bob is survived by His wife, Norma Hynds of the home, Son, Mark Hynds and wife Mary and Daughter Andrea Hynds. Grandchildren, Leslie and Stanley Brannum, Jeremy and wife Tamera Hynds, and Great granddaughter, Emma Brannum, all of Norman, Oklahoma. Sisters, Charlene Cox of Amarillo, Texas, Dixie Grimes of Gentry, Arkansas, and Sammy Harrison of Richland Hills, Texas; Brother, Tommy and wife Jo Ann Hynds of Dripping Springs, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley Miller and Annabelle Hynds and a son Michael Hynds. The family asks that memorials be sent in his name to the First Baptist Church of Wayne of which he was a long time member, or the charity of your choice. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Wayne. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
