Bob Massengale

Bob Massengale, age 79 of Lexington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Robert Gale Massengale was born January 30, 1947 in Okmulgee, OK, the 6th of 7 children born to Clifford Roy Massengale and Phoebe Pauline (McGlasson) Massengale. He spent his early years in Bald Hill near Okmulgee, where he began school. He attended Central High School in Oklahoma City, graduating with the Cardinals Class of 1965. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Carlene Garde, on June 3, 1966 in Oklahoma City, and they began their life together. Bob attended Central State University in Edmond where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Economics. Bob and Carla settled in Lexington in 1975 where they raised their three daughters, Kala, Erin and Kasi. Bob was a hard worker and a great provider. He owned and operated Massengale’s Furniture and Appliances in Lexington for more than 40 years, which gave them the ability to travel all over the world. In 2006, he opened Oklahoma Recumbent Road Bikes and managed the day-to-day operations until he couldn’t. Bob loved to travel, loved restoring old British Triumphs, and loved riding recumbent bikes. He cherished Carla, his girls, and was never happier than the day he became a Papa. He was a man of great faith, and a longtime member of the Lexington First Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed! He was preceded in death by: his parents, Clifford and Pauline Massengale; his sisters, Billie Sue Owens and Ann Richardson, and Brothers-in-law, Bob Owens and Harold Keck. Bob is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Carla Massengale; his daughters, Kala Idleman and husband John of Stratford, Erin Schier of Norman and Kasi Amrein and husband Shane of Moore; Sisters, Mary Keck of Edmond and Paula Perkins and husband Jim of Midwest City; Brothers, Clifford Massengale and wife Joann of Lexington and Ron Massengale and wife Becky of Arkansas; brother-in-law, Toby Richardson of Holly Lake Ranch, TX; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Kara Wilson and husband Morgan of Pauls Valley, Duke Davenport of Elmore City, Braeden Schier of Norman, Kaetlen Schier of Norman and Andelynn Amrein of Moore and great grandchildren, Deklynn Wilson, Brynlee Wilson and one on the way. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2026 at Lexington First Baptist Church. The family requests those attending to honor Bob by wearing his favorite color, blue. Memorials may be made to the Surinam Mission at First Baptist Church in Lexington.
