Charlene Ewing

Charlene Ewing age 82 of Purcell, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Duncan, OK. Charlene was born on November 25, 1935 in Norman, OK. She was an only child to Charlie and Anna Mae Brown. Charlene grew up in Norman and graduated from Norman High School with the class of 1954. She then attended the University of Oklahoma and was also a member to a local sorority. She had a brief career as a model and a stewardess for Pan Am. She married Ed Fretwell Jr. in Oklahoma City and together they had one child Charles Lynn Fretwell. Charlene enjoyed traveling and being a stepmother to Edward Fretwell, Alan Fretwell, Nancy Fretwell and David Fretwell. Charlene later moved to Springfield, MO and worked for the Beech School of Business. She returned to Oklahoma City and worked at Draughon School of Business and later married Larry Ewing in 1975 in Purcell, Ok and became a stepmother to Analisa and Rick. Charlene was a business owner and was cofounder of the Christmas Store in Purcell along with Jo Bridwell. Her fond memories were spending time with their Friday night friends group and traveling with the love of her life. Larry and Charlene were inseparable and they truly loved each other. After Larry's death Charlene made her home in Norman, Ok where she was a member of the Faith Pointe Baptist Church. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, and the love of her life Larry Ewing. She is survived by her three children: Charles and wife Dawna (Headrick) of Maysville, OK, Analisa (Ewing) Murray and husband Ryan of Paoli, OK, and Rick Ewing of Wayne, Ok. One brother in law, Wyman Ewing and wife Doris of Pueblo,CO; grandchildren Adam Fretwell and wife Stephanie of Houston, TX, Bryan Fretwell of Ventura, CA, Chance Murray and wife Jamie of Norman, OK, Clay Murray and wife Brittani of Purcell, OK, and most recently added Jacob Headrick of Kansas City, MO, Hayden Headrick of Manhattan, KS, and Regan Headrick of Manhattan, KS and she was blessed to be Gigi to Garrett and Sadie Fretwell. Also, many dear friends. Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 15, 2018 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Hillside Cemetery, Purcell, OK. In memory of Charlene, memorial may be made to the Jesus House in OKC or Faithpointe Baptist Church, Norman, OK.
