Charles Weldon Wallis

Charles Weldon Wallis age 87, of Blanchard, was born in OKC to Anna Marie (Chronister) and Rhea William Wallis, February 20, 1932. He attended school in OKC and was a Taft HS graduate. Immediately after graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force to serve his country; which he did proud fully for 4 years during the Korean War. During his time in the Air Force he was granted leave. Then during one of his trips home he met the love of his life Edwina Jo Blancett. He knew after the first date this was the girl for him. They married shortly after on Dec. 22, 1952, then she joined him in California where he was stationed. After being discharged they made their home back in Oklahoma. They started a family and raised three children; Mark, Janiece, and Kristi. Charles worked as an aircraft mechanic at FAA. He wanted to be his own boss, so he decided he would open an auto body and paint shop on the south side of OKC. He loved cars, everything about them. As he made contacts in the Auto Repair industry he had an opportunity to do insurance adjusting, he jumped at that. He gladly closed down the OKC body shop in the mid 60's and off to the new career. Life was good. He moved his family to the Bridge Creek Area. His love of cars resulted in the need to open another Body Shop in Tuttle, OK; later his son Mark took over. Charles was into many different hobbies and ventures such as Home building, raising Buffalo, gardening, and spending time with family. He may not have outwardly showed affection, but he always knew everything going on with everyone because he had daily update calls. "Charlie" remedies included, homemade cough syrups, or instructions for whatever ailment someone may have had. He was known as "Charlie", Daddy, Dad, Papaw and Grandpa Charles. He loved his family and was proud of everyone of them. Charles was preceded in death by; Parents, Rhea and Anna Marie. Wife, Edwina Wallis on Oct. 1, 2015. 1Sister, Dorethea Claybaugh, 3 Brother, Rex Wallis, Chester Wallis, Rhea William Wallis, He is survived by: Three children, Mark Wallis and wife Marshah of Blanchard, Janiece Dowdy and husband Steve of Edmond, Kristi Walker and husband Jordan of OKC. 7 Grandchildren, Emilee Gonzalez and husband John of Tuttle, Natalee Brown and husband Jeremy of Porum, OK, Tyler Wallis and wife Melanie of Tuttle, Stephanie Younger and husband Jerry of Edmond, Erin Dowdy of OKC, Colton Dowdy and wife Maggie of OKC, Zachary Dowdy and wife Kaylen of OKC, Kolbie Walker of OKC. 8 Great grandchildren, Chandler, Elijah, Seth and Drew Brown, Zoey Wallis and McKensey Roberts and husband Greg, also Kayden, Jacob and Mason Younger. 3 Great Great grandchildren, Rhett, Rowdy, Roy Many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Graveside Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, Sept. 27, 2019 at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 104th and S. Walker Ave, OKC.
