Danny Lee Salyer

Danny Salyer, age 69 of Wanette, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital. Danny Lee Salyer was born July 13, 1947 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was born to Arthur Lee Salyer and Bonnie Bell (Gasaway) Salyer. He was raised primarily in the Okmulgee area. Danny joined the United States Army and served his country proudly. Danny returned home in April of 1970 and just days later, on April 24th, he married his best friend and true love, Marilyn Marie Somsen. Together, they raised 2 children, son Danny Jr. and daughter, Kristina. Danny worked many years as a lineman. They first made their home in Okmulgee and later Skiatook where he worked for the city. From there, it was Ada and then Woodward, before an injury ended his lineman career. He then began driving a truck moving Drilling Rigs. A new job, driving oil transport truck, moved him to Wanette. For the last several years, he was a self-employed truck driver. When not working, Danny enjoyed hunting, and especially looked forward to Deer season, hunting side by side with Marilyn. He was a family man first and he cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He looked forward to their visits so he could spoil them with his "buggy rides". He will be dearly missed! He was preceded in death by: His son, "DJ", Danny Salyer Jr. His Father, Arthur Lee Salyer His Mother, Bonnie Bell Dowdney His brother, Loyd Salyer. Danny leaves behind: His wife, Marilyn Salyer of the home; Daughter, Kristina Brock and husband Charles of Wanette; Sisters, Barbara Salyer, Betty Wood, Rhonda Moore and husband Jason, Jennifer Owen, Kathy Kimzey and husband Donald Sister-in-law, Kathy Salyer; Brothers, Ercy McCall and wife Sharon, Donny McCall and Wife Dot, Jr Salyer and wife Lori, Joey Salyer, Jimmy Salyer and wife Patty, 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Wanette. Burial will follow at the Wanette Cemetery.
