David Alan Courtney

On July 26, 2021, David Alan Courtney went home to be with his Lord and Savior. David was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on February 23, 1958, and was the youngest of five children born to Thomas and Patricia (Zoeller) Courtney. He grew up in Ponca City graduating with the class of 1976. He was born again in 2005 when he gave his life to the Lord. David eventually moved to Norman where he met and married Dana Williams. They were married for 27 years and raised 2 amazing daughters, Bridget and Kassidy. He was extremely proud of his girls and loved them dearly. David was always very involved in their lives and encouraged them to reach for the stars and dance in the rain. He was a Godly example to them. They could not have asked for a better dad because he was the best. He was very devoted to his family. David worked for ConocoPhillips for 38 years, 19 of those in Houston. He became a company representative in associations that establish and update standards and protocols regarding gas measurement. These associations included the American Petroleum Institute and the Gas Processors Association. He was involved in projects to rewrite standards and write new standards. David also represented ConocoPhillips and the industry in work with government departments as the government began implementing new rules for measurement which are still in effect to this day. One of his co-workers said David was well known and respected in the industry for what he did and how he did it. His fairness, kindness, and the way he respected people enabled him to be a respected and effective leader in gas measurement. David retired in 2018 and moved with Dana and Kassidy back to Oklahoma to be closer to family. He loved every member of his family and Dana's too. He also loved being retired. He started gardening and grew the best tomatoes. Together, he and Dana canned his homemade salsa and sent a jar home with every visitor. David loved fishing too. He and his brother Larry and Brother-in-law Steve built a fishing hut by the pond so they wouldn't have to carry their gear very far to go fishing. He also loved watching cooking shows and started cooking gourmet dinners for the family. He perfected the pork butt on his green egg. When friends and family came to visit, David was cooking. If you knew David, you would know he was an avid Dallas Cowboy and OU fan. Life was planned around the games during football season and many 3-way calls took place between his dad and brother to cheer every touchdown. David was a very loved man. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle and a great friend. He always had a smile and great attitude to everyone he met. David is preceded in death by his nephew Max Courtney. David is survived by his parents, Thomas and Patricia (Zoeller) Courtney of Ponca City; his wife Dana of the home; children, Bridget Courtney of Sanford, NC; Kassidy Courtney and Fiancé Jerimiah Johnson of Purcell; brother Larry Courtney and wife Angie of Miami, OK; sisters Teresa Courtney of Tahlequah, OK; Sharon Fields and husband Steve of Tulsa, OK and Linda Courtney of Ponca City, OK; Sister-In-Law Judy Green and husband Vance of Purcell, OK; Brother-In-Laws Arlen Williams and wife Marsha of Paoli, OK; Mike Williams and wife Ann of Purcell, OK and Wes Lambert of Purcell, OK.
