Delores Marie Muse

Delores Muse, age 81, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 2, 2025, with her loving husband, Steve Muse, by her side. Born Delores Marie West on July 17, 1943, in Purcell, OK, she was the middle child of W.A. and Clara Marie West. After the passing of her mother, Delores was lovingly raised by her father and stepmother, Minnie Ermine West. Delores grew up in Purcell and graduated with the Dragon Class of 1960. In 1963, she married W.O. “Dub” Wood, and together they raised three children: Phillip, Jason, and Jennifer. Though their lives eventually took separate paths, Delores and Dub shared a lasting bond through their children and family. Over the years, she worked for Oklahoma DHS, the home healthcare industry, and later retired from the promotional advertising industry. In 2005, Delores married Steve Muse, and together they made their home in Oklahoma City. In her final years, Delores faced several health challenges with grace and courage. Throughout it all, Steve remained a constant source of comfort, providing daily companionship that brought her peace and allowed her to remain at home. She enjoyed sewing, baking, crocheting blankets for those she loved, traveling, and spending time at the casino with Steve. Delores took joy in hearing about her grandchildren’s lives and accomplishments, and she was proud of the people they were becoming. She also cherished her lifelong friendships with her Dragon classmates, always looking forward to their yearly reunion. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara West, and W.A. and Minnie Ermine West; and her brother, Dewain West. Delores is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Muse; her sister, Joyce Bacon; her children: Phillip Wood and partner Periann Pulliam, Jason Wood and wife Becky, Jennifer Cruzan and husband Josh, and daughter-in-law Karen Wood; her grandchildren: Jessica Doyle and husband Adam, Tyler Wood, Ashley Wood, Estella, Sophie, and Scarlett Cruzan; and her step-sons: Grant, Aaron, and Taylor Muse, along with their spouses and children. She also leaves behind a host of extended family and dear friends, including her lifelong friends Ron and Marcia Vaughan, who will miss her dearly. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Esmeralda, her devoted home health caregiver, for the compassionate care and comfort she provided in Delores’s final months. Graveside services will be held by Wilson Little Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK.
