Dolores Demorest

Dolores Demorest age 77 of Purcell, formerly of Mt. Clemens, Michigan, passed away on September 16, 2025. Dolores Ann Fancil was born in Detroit, Michigan to Carl Lorenzo Fancil and Annie Irene Fancil (Thompson) on October 11, 1947. Dolores grew up in Detroit, attended school there, and graduated from Redford High with the Panther Class of 1965 where she earned the nickname “Tuffy”. She met a young sailor named George Richard Demorest through his sister and they quickly hit it off. George and Dolores were married on November 13, 1965 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Detroit, and shared 58 years of marriage together. George worked in the automotive industry and the young family followed wherever it led. They made their home in Detroit, Robinson, Illinois, and Holly, Michigan before moving to Oklahoma. Dolores was a homemaker and proud mother to her four sons. She supported all their athletic endeavors and made sure that her boys, and anyone they happened to bring home, were well fed and welcomed at the table. Once her boys were in high school Dolores babysat local children in her home, and worked for a clothing retailer in Oklahoma City. George and Dolores made the move back to Michigan in 1996, but relocated once again to Purcell to be near their family in 2022. Dolores had a knack for making a house feel like home, especially at the holidays. She made sure nearly every room had a well decorated Christmas tree, and that there were presents for everyone nestled beneath them. Dolores loved elephants, and collected any and all things pachyderm to fill her home with; from figurines and artwork, to end tables- she cherished each item. She was an avid basketball fan and cheered for the Oklahoma City Thunder, especially during their 2025 championship run. Dolores also rooted for the Kansas City Chiefs, and any teams her kids and grandkids played for or coached throughout the years. She was a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother who will be deeply missed. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Annie Fancil, and her husband George Demorest. She is survived by her sons Richard Demorest and wife Tabitha of Oklahoma City, Adam Demorest and wife Cherry of Purcell, Jamie Demorest and wife McKala of Marysville, MI, and Jason Demorest and wife Irene of Frankfurt, Germany. Her siblings Carl Fancil of Plymouth, MI, Sharon Tresik of Plymouth, MI, and Penny Borio and husband Joe of Howell, MI. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Chris, Julie, Kaitlyn, Tiffany, Skylar, Jayden, Olivia, Roman, and Ellie. Three great grandchildren, David, Isla, Vincent, and one on the way.
