Dorothy Burcham

Dorothy Burcham, age 85 of Lexington, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at her home. Dorothy Woneta Bressman was born October 28, 1932 in Hinton, Oklahoma, the oldest of 7 children born to DA and Evelyn Bressman. She was raised in Elgin and attended school there. On July 24, 1950, in Wichita Falls, TX, Dorothy married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, John E. Burcham Jr. They made their home in Lawton where together they raised 3 sons, Todd, Terry and Hoyt. They later moved to Moore for a few years, before settling north of Lexington. Dorothy cherished being a wife and mother, and worked tirelessly caring and providing for her boys. She was a strong advocate for foster care, and she dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of children in need. Dorothy was a mother to many foster children. She later worked as store manager for the Great American Cookie Company in Norman. She loved spending time outside tending to her garden. She was a woman of strong faith and a member of the Lexington First Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: Her husband, John E. Burcham Jr; Her parents, DA & Evelyn Bressman; Siblings, Judy Becerra, Vola Jones, Dee Bressman and an infant brother and Daughter-in-law, Kim Burcham. Dorothy leaves behind: Her sons, Todd Burcham and wife JoAn of Yukon, Terry Burcham and wife Carolyn of Norman and Hoyt Burcham of Norman; Sister, Donna Gamble of Bochito, OK; Brother, Joe Bressman of Lawton; 7 grandchildren, April Burcham, Vincent Burcham and wife Chelsea, Brian Burcham and Wife Christy, John Arlen Burcham and wife Angela, Melissa Anderson and Husband Andrew, Stacy Burcham, Anna Morris and husband Adam; 6 great grandchildren, Abigail, Benjamin, Jack, Ian, Aspyn and Asher and A host of other family and friends. Family will greet relatives and friends, Thursday from 6-8p.m., at Wilson-Little Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton.
