Dwight "Troy" Morrison

Dwight "Troy" Morrison, age 74 of Noble, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2020 in his home. Dwight T. Morrison was born September 6, 1945 in Checotah, OK, the 5th of 9 children born to James Rupert Morrison and Geneva Grace Morrison. He spent his early childhood near Checotah, later moving to Choctaw where he attended school. Troy learned at a very young age the value of hard work. Even as a young man, he was always busy doing something with cars or with friends. On February 18, 1965, Troy's life was forever changed when he married his best friend and life partner, Shirley Jean Lawrence. They made their home primarily in Little Axe where together they raised three children; daughter, Sherri and sons, James and Dwight II. Troy worked in concrete, at a dairy, delivery driver and several other jobs until taking a job as a machinist at FMC in Midwest city. As the years went by, Troy took on more jobs there, and eventually was promoted to re-manufacturing manager. Then finally, moved to the international division where he traveled globally setting up repair shops for submergible oil pumps. He worked all over the Middle East, Russia, South America and south Texas. In his work, Troy was able to travel the world seeing and experiencing amazing things coming home to tell his stories in a down played matter of fact kind of way. Troy's life changed again when he became a grandpa. He lived for his grand kids and greatly enjoyed spoiling them. He bought boats and campers so they could travel together, and even took them all to Disney World. He loved spending holidays with them, but was especially excited at Christmas. He often remarked that he wanted better for them than he had. He spoiled them, but also taught them the values he grew up with. He had them by his side helping him as he prepared for trips, worked on home projects and many other things. His grandkids showed their love and affection when one year he was in the hospital overnight during Christmas they refused to open their gifts until he came home. He cherished Shirley and he always put his family first. He will be greatly missed! He was preceded in death by: His parents, James and Grace Morrison and Siblings, Pauline Sage, Shirley Meinecke, Joyce Papke and James Edward Morrison, Ricky Morrison. Troy is survived by: His wife, Shirley of their home in Noble, OK; Daughter, Sherri Morrison of Noble; Sons, James Morrison of Lexington and Dwight Morrison II of Noble; Sisters, Rhonda Turner of Savannah, Texas and Cathy Bland of Savannah, Texas Brother, Ronnie Morrison of Newalla; 8 grandchildren, Juston, Katie, Joshua, Deavin, Hanna, Tristan, Shawn and Ruthie; 7 great grandchildren, Shilee, Casen, Hagen, Jemma, Joseph, Haisley, and Waverly; Dozens of nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
