Edwina Wallis

Edwina J. Wallis, age 81 of Bridge Creek, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City. Edwina Jo Blancett was born June 19, 1934 in Oklahoma City, OK, the older of 2 daughters born to Edward Lee Blancett and Margaret V. (Kluck) Blancett. She grew up in OKC and attended school there, graduating from Capitol Hill High School in 1952. Later that same month, she met a young man named Charles Weldon Wallis, and he swept her off of her feet. They fell in love and were married on December 22, of that same year. They made their home in Oklahoma City for a time, later settling in Bridge Creek in 1970. Together they raised 3 children, a son; Mark and 2 daughters; Janiece and Kristi. Edwina worked in Banking for a few years and later with Sears in the credit department. She dabbled in Real Estate some and later retired as a Mortgage Banker. Edwina cherished her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a longtime and faithful member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Edwina was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a true friend. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Edward and Margaret Blancett. Edwina leaves behind: Her husband, Charles, of the home; Son, Mark Wallis and wife Marshah of Bridge Creek; 2 daughters, Janiece Dowdy and husband Steve of Goldsby and Kristi Walker and husband Jordan of OKC; Her sister, Carol Ann Vowel and husband C.W. of Mansfield, TX; Grandchildren, Kolbie Walker, Stephanie Younger and husband Jerry, Erin Dowdy, Colton Dowdy, Zachary Dowdy, Emilee Gonzalez and husband John, Natalee Brown and husband Jeremy and Tyler Wallis and wife Melanie; Great grandchildren, Chandler, Elijah, Seth and Drew Brown, Zoey Wallis, McKensey Roberts and husband Greg and Kayden, Jacob and Mason Younger. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the Snow Hill Baptist Church near Tuttle. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in OKC.
