Gary Lynn Moss

Gary Lynn Moss, age 74 of San Angelo, TX and formerly of Norman, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025. Born September 22, 1950 in Oklahoma City, he was the 2nd of 7 children born to Elmer Jesse Moss and Imogene Lee Paxton Moss. He was raised in Norman where he attended school, graduating with the Tiger’s Class of 1968. Gary then answered the call in service to his country, and joined the United States Army. Back home, he began working as fireman, until settling into the family spraying business, Atlas, and later owned and operated Dandilawn in Norman. Gary purchased a transport truck, and also hauled exotic cars cross country, and although he got paid, this was more of a hobby for him. Away from work, he enjoyed family trips at the lake, riding his motorcycle and was a professional fisherman. He was a gifted musician and played guitar, and played in several area bands including Strawberry Moon, Country Rush, and Kimbo and The Last Call Band. On September 30, 2023, Gary married his longtime companion, Judy (Carley) Smith and they made their home in San Angelo, TX. He cherished his family and was a friend to many. He will be dearly missed! He was preceded in death by: his great granddaughter, Elsie Birnie, sister-in-law, Sherri Moss and his parents, Elmer Jesse Moss and Imogene Lee Paxton Moss. Gary is survived by: his wife Judy Moss of the home; Children, Rhonda Evett (David) of Goldsby, Brian Moss of Kingston, Darrel Smith (Lauren) of Newcastle and Billy Smith (Lindsey) of Harrah; siblings Drannon Moss of Norman, Jimmie Moss (Jackie) of Norman, Janice Erdmann of Oklahoma City, Sharon Glover (Dewayne) of Norman, Lanelle Amrein (Curt) of Norman and Jamie Barker (Ethan) of Oklahoma City; his mother-in-law, Pauline Carley; 8 grandchildren, Caitlyn Birnie, Hunter Birnie (Riley), Zachary Evett (Dominique), James Moss, Bailey Lewis (Llogan), Brayden Smith, Kayleigh Smith and Evan Smith; 5 great grandchildren, Nolan, Emerson , Asher and Lyric; Many nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Graveside Services are scheduled for 12:00 PM, Friday, September 5, 2025 at Seaman Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery in Ardmore, OK. www.wilsonlittle.com Following the graveside service, everyone is welcome to come to The Station in Ardmore to share memories of Gary.
