Glenna Mae Myers

Glenna Mae Myers (86) went to be with her Lord on October 27, 2020. She was the first of 3 children born to Lloyd and Alma (McAbee) Dodd on July 6, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn by Bro Clarence Coffman. On December 8, 1951, she married the love of her life, Glenn Earl Myers and they made their home in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School the following spring while pregnant with the twins. To this union was born four children: identical twins, Danny Ryan and Lanny Bryan, Michael Steven, and Cindy Leann. Glenna was a homemaker and mother. She loved being involved in her children's activities and with the church. As the family talked, they wanted to share some of their special memories. Cindy recalled what a great cook their mother was and all the experience she had feeding three boys that were hungry all the time. She had many specialties, one being biscuits and gravy. Glenn always said they needed to open a restaurant and just serve breakfast with the main course being her biscuits and gravy. Cindy said her mom loved hearing that. Danny's favorite specialty was his mom's apricot fried pies. He said no one can make them like she did. Glenn and Glenna were active with the Capitol Hill Choir activities when Danny and Lanny were singing in the choir. They were faithful to attend all the performances of this acclaimed choir. They served as chaperones for the two-week multi-state tour for the choir with performances in Colorado, Disneyland, and Knotts Berry Farm in California. The family enjoyed many vacations and camping trips to the lake. Cindy recalled her parents having several favorite vacation spots when they were young. Every year we would start out and Dad would not tell us where we were going, but we caught on really quick. We always ended up at Rock Away Beach, Missouri, and would go into Branson. Then we would end up at Roaring River in Cassville, Arkansas. It was so beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing there. The guys would catch the fish and Mom would cook them up for all of us! Great times! Cindy said that she loved it so much that she started that tradition with her family. Her sister, Beverly "Jo", shared the following memories with the family. When Glenna was dating Glenn, it was common for them to set in the car until time to come in. If Grandad felt it was time to come in, he would flip the porch light switch to signal Glenna to come in. Being 6 years younger, Jo soon learned the routine and if she wanted Glenna to come in, she began flipping the porch light on her own. Needless to say, when Glenna discovered it was Jo, she was not pleased with her little sister. Another memory was having watermelon as a child. When it came time for the girls to carry out the watermelon rinds to the back yard, Jo finished dropping hers off and slipped back in the house and locked Glenna out. Glenna was afraid of the dark, and this resulted in Jo getting in trouble for scaring her sister. Another memory was when Jo and Glenna went on a cruise together. When it was time for the standard "safety drill" as the ship was leaving port, they gathered in their designated spot on the deck. The Captain said if things were bad, they would tell them to jump overboard and the lifeboat would pick you up. Glenna turned to Jo and said, "what if I don't want to jump in?" Jo responded, "then I will push you in." Again, Glenna was not pleased with that response. Glenna became a widow at the young age of 48. Life took a turn she never expected. She so greatly missed our Dad, the love of her life, through all those years. She never remarried. She held onto that eternal reunion that she waited and longed for with great expectation. Glenna was loved by many. All who cared for her always told Cindy how much they loved her and that she was always so sweet and kind. Cindy said, "There will be a great void in my life and I too look forward to that great reunion day for us all." She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Earl Myers, her parents Lloyd and Alma Dodd, brother Rick Dodd, and son-in-law Ervin Warren. Glenna is survived by her sons, Danny Myers and wife Yvonne of Newcastle, Lanny Myers and wife Anita of Bethany, daughter, Cindy Warren of Oklahoma City, son Michael Myers, and one very special sister, Beverly Jo Richards of Newcastle. Glenna had six grandchildren, Annette (Myers) Pratchard of Mustang, Lance Myers and Michelle France of Tulsa, Sean Myers and wife Angela of Guam, Shade Warren and wife Whitney of Oklahoma City, Brittany Warren of Gilbert, AZ, and Nancy (Lydon) Toney and husband Dave of Oklahoma City, and 10 great grandchildren, Conner Pratchard, Jasmine Myers, Landon Myers & Tyler France, Kross & Salem Warren, Jaedon & Kason Warren, Lily & Boston Lydon. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
