Greg Scott Jones

Gregory Scott Jones born in Yuma, AZ March 11, 1957 to RB and Bessie Jones. They moved frequently during his childhood. They returned to Lexington where he later graduated high school in 1975. He married young and from that union, three children were born; Brandy, Kyle and Aaron. His entire work career was in the automotive industry. Most notable dealerships were Leory Tullius, Al Salyer, Bob Miller Chevrolet, Hudiburg Group, Fowler, and Seth Wadley. Through his hard work and accomplishments he won multiple awards and trips. He took pride in his work and running an efficient business. In 1991, Labor Day weekend, a chance meeting with an old high school friend, Shelia, led to marriage May 1st 1992. From this commitment, he gained two daughters Adrianne and Kaylie. Greg was an outstanding athlete in high school where ran track, played basketball, baseball, and football. After high school he played baseball 1 year at Seminole College. He fished in the BASS tournament circuit for several years, enjoyed playing golf and DIY home projects, as well as watching and attending Nascar races, and college football. His greatest love was his children, grand and great grandchildren. He loved holiday’s, family meals, playing cards with the Fun Bunch, taking Hannah for dog walks, watching old western movies and spending time with the love of his life Shelia. Later in life he discovered additional family in Texas. He found out he had 6 more brothers and a sister. He spent time with them in San Antonio and as well as their visits to Oklahoma to reconnect. In August of 2018 he discovered a cancer diagnosis which he fought for 7 years. He never waivered in his positivity for recovery and his strong belief in the Lords healing. On September 2nd in Oklahoma City he passed peacefully in his sleep reuniting with Jesus and family members that passed before him. He was preceded in death by: his parents, R.B. and Bessie Jones; biological father, James “Pops” Elliot; brothers, Bradley Jones, John Elliot, and Billy Elliot; father-in-law, Debbs Lambdin; sister-in-law, Sherri Elliot; brother-in-law Bob Deskin. Greg is survived by: his loving wife, Shelia Jones of the home; daughters, Brandy Venable and husband Kevin of Blanchard, Adrianne Jones of Newcastle, Kyle Jones and wife Jamie of Blanchard, Aaron Jones and wife Ashely of Maysville and Kaylie Jones of Norman; sisters, Freda Lewis and husband Wayne of Chandler, Arizona, Linda Huckaba and husband Phil of Carnegie, Ethel Hicks and husband Kenneth of Tryon, and Winona Creels of Texas; brothers, George Elliot, James Elliot, Jacob Elliot and wife Virginia, and Monte Elliot all of San Antionio, Texas; mother-in-law, Joan Lambdin of Norman; sister-in-law, Tempie Power and husband Bob of Guthrie, sister-in-law Bo Jones of Lexington; 9 grandchildren, Cerissa and Jacob Otey, Jonathan Jones Venable, Nik and Cassie Venable, Kayla Venable, Kenzie Venable, Levi Jones, Amon Jones, Wyatt Jones, Wesson Taylor; 2 great-grandchildren, Donna and Sutton Otey, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Viewing will be held from 1-7 P.M. Thursday, September 5, 2024. The family will be here to receive guests and relatives from 5-7 P.M. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M.
