Helen L. Petty

Helen L. (Sweeney) Petty, age 71 of Macomb, and formerly of Noble, passed away, Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at the Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Tecumseh. Helen was born March 8, 1941 in Henderson County, TX, 1 of 11 children raised by Carlisle Hamilton Sweeney and Ethel Vernell (Gilbert) Lewis. After school, Helen worked various odd jobs before settling on a career in the nursing field. She married Harold Thomas Petty in 1967 and they made their home in Texas before moving to Oklahoma, settling in Noble in 1993. Helen worked at various nursing homes in the Purcell and Lexington area. She later returned to school and obtained her C.N.A. License. She retired from the Norman Veterans Center after years of dedicated service. Helen was a hard worker and a good provider. She loved tending to her flowers and in her younger years, she enjoyed embroidery work. Helen began residing at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in 2010. She was blessed with a loving and caring staff and became dear friends with the other residents, all of whom quickly became her extended family that she dearly loved. She will be greatly missed by staff and residents alike. Helen was a loving mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Harold Petty; Her parents, Carl Sweeney & Ethel Gilbert Lewis and Siblings, Infant Wanda Nadine Sweeney, Clydell Young, James Carl 'Buddy' Sweeney, Avanell Jones, Larry Sweeney and Edward Carl Sweeney Sr. Helen leaves behind: Her son, Harold Eugene Petty of Noble; Her daughter, Angel Michelle Sharp and husband John of Bridge Creek, and their children, Megan, Anna & John; Her brother, Jimmy Sweeney and wife Jackie of Rockwall, TX; Sisters, Ruby Chandler of Forney, TX, Malline Ragan of Corsicana, TX and Judi Riggs of Macomb, OK; Brother-in-law, Eulan Jones of Kemp, TX, Sisters-in-law, Trudy Sweeney of Forney, TX; Wanda Sweeney of Dallas, TX; and Johnye Sweeney of Crosby, TX. Many nieces & nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of other Family and friends. A Graveside Funeral Service is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Noble I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Pastor David Pollard of New Life Assembly of God in Tecumseh, Ok. will be officiating.
