Imogene Carothers

Imogene Carothers, age 96 of Purcell, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021. Imogene Joyce Woodall was born July 16, 1925 in Altus, OK, 1 of 9 children born to James Walter Woodall and Mary L. (Bell) Woodall. She was raised in the Ozark Community near Altus, and also started and finished school there. She met a young man named Lawrence Carothers. They quickly became friends and eventually more, and Imogene married her sweetheart on July 23, 1945. Not too long afterwards, Lawrence was deployed with the Army. At this time, Imogene found work where she could, and stayed busy praying for his return. Once back home, they settled in Del City, where they raised their two daughters, Joyce and Larrie. She stayed busy in her girl's everyday lives, serving as homeroom mother and Brownie leader. Imogene's greatest joy was her family. She loved being a wife and mother and eventually a grandmother. She was a gifted seamstress, and created and sewed clothing for her girls. When they were grown, Imogene and Lawrence started their own company, LaCar Tube. She worked side by side with Lawrence, keeping books and whatever needed to be done until retirement. She was a woman of great faith, and longtime member of the Kelham Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: her husband, Lawrence Carothers; son-in-law, Jimmy Criswell; parents, James and Mary Woodall and siblings, Thelma, Mildred, 'Pete', J.T., Cecil, Bert and Aubrey. Imogene is survived by: her daughters, Joyce Gage and husband Dennis of Benton, AR and Larrie Criswell of Purcell; Brother, Bill Woodall of China, TX; 7 grandchildren, Kristin Page and husband Kris of Rogers, AR, Kendra Turbyfill and husband Bart of Benton, Todd Gage and wife Cynthia of Costa Rica, Sondra Ramos and husband Erick of Amarillo, TX, Brandon Criswell of Purcell, Alisha Criswell of Goldsby, and Aaron Criswell and wife Brandee of Purcell; Great grandchildren, Hannah, Harper, Jayden, Jason, Cameron, Tyler, Alex, Sage, Elle, Victoria, Aaron, Ariana, Alex, Kimmy, Claudia, Nicholas, Slaton, Amelia and Braxton; Great greats, Oliver and Achilles and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 30, 2021, at Little's Chapel, Wilson-Little. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery. Send online condolences @ www.wilsonlitle.com.
