Janice M. Rosamond

Janice Rosamond, age 72 of Norman, and formerly of Wayne, passed away, Thursday, January 30, 2020. Janice Mari Tyra was born March 2, 1947 in Helena, MT, 1 of 3 children and the younger twin of William Harrison "Bud" Tyra and Florence Ida (Haines) Tyra. Her earlier years were spent in Montana, but by age 12 her family had moved to Texas, settling near Ysleta. As a teenager, Janice was severely injured in a car wreck, and began receiving treatment at the Children's Hospital. By chance, she met a young man who was also there receiving treatment for burns, and the two fast became friends. On April 3, 1965, in Seminole, OK, Janice married her best friend and life partner, Tom Rosamond. They first made their home in Seminole, where they welcomed their only daughter, Sherrie. There were stints in both Kentucky and Texas, and by 1991, the Rosamond's had settled near Wayne. Janice worked as an LPN for many years, and her caring and sweet nature served her well. She worked for several area nursing home's, and she claimed many of her patients as her own, fondly calling them, her "little ole people". Janice's greatest joy was her family and she cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She fostered a love for arts and crafts with in them, and shared her love for creating dream catchers. She was anyone's and everyone's "GRANNY". Janice loved animals and could easily handle them, with just a whisper. She was a neat freak, and you never entered her home when it wasn't spotless. Janice was a woman of great faith and a longtime and faithful member of the Wayne First Baptist Church, and a Perpetual Member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and a true friend. She was preceded in death by: Husband, Tom Rosamond; Parents, Bud and Florence Tyra and Twin brother, Jeff Tyra. Janice is survived by: Her daughter, Sherrie Rosamond and husband Greg Clark of Norman; Sister, Sammy Abney and husband Phil of Union Star, MO; 3 grandchildren, Angel Elkins, Jeni Oswalt and husband Patrick and Jobeth Juergens and partner Nicole Weber; 4 step grandchildren, Wendy Wyatt and husband Mark, Jon Creagan and wife Megan, Mackenzie Biesel and Sam Goodger; 12 great grandchildren, Nicole, Kylie, Colton, Grace, Elliott, Houston, Meadow, Clay, Hannah, Micah, Rylee and Emma, and A host of other family and friends.
