Jenny Wheeler

Jenny Wheeler age eighty seven of Blanchard Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday August 17, 2022 at Baptist Village Long Term Care Center in Oklahoma City. Jenavee "Jenny" Lurlene Bowers was born March 29, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Stanley E. Irving and Norene M. Barber. She was raised and adopted by Charlie D. Bowers, who she considered her daddy. She grew up in Borger, Texas where she graduated from Borger High School in 1953. Jenny married Edwin Eugene "Doc" Humphreys on October 19, 1953. They had 3 sons, Del Charles, Dan Eugene, and Cecil David Humphreys. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1959. Jenny worked as a meat wrapper for Safeway Stores. Worked for Dr. Mark R. Johnson for several years as an office nurse. She then worked at Tinker Air Force Base and Housing and Urban Development where she retired as a GS 12. Jenny retired 4 weeks prior to the bombing on April 19, 1995 at the Alfred P. Murrah building. In 1981 Jenny married H.D. Wheeler. She loved going to church, always singing in the choir and a long-time faithful member at Trinity Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma. Jenny loved holidays always wanting everyone at her home, especially for Christmas. She was a great cook, making the best fried chicken in the world. She was also a "Professional Shopper", saving millions of dollars in her lifetime, according to her husband H.D. She was a wonderful granny to her grandchildren. Jenny was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Norene Bowers, her son Dan Eugene Humphreys, her husband H.D. Wheeler, and her step-grandson Lance Lawson. She is survived by her sons, Del and wife Pam Humphreys of Edmond, Oklahoma, David and wife Barbara Humphreys of Blanchard, Oklahoma, her brother, Steve and wife Sherri Bowers of Guthrie, Oklahoma, sister Mona and husband Billy Moore of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 5 grandchildren, Kimberly and Ryan Poisso , Zac and Britini Humphreys, Christopher and Casey Humphreys, Brandy and Justin Black, and Sara and L.J. Clark, 11 great grandchildren, Hunter, Chandler, and Julia Poisso, Adley and Isaac Humphreys, Asher Gagliardi, Lauren, Dallas, and Tyson Black, Jazlyn and Colton Clark. Two step-daughters, Diana Wheeler Gann and Renae Wheeler both of Lexington. Also numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Trinity Baptist Church, 801 N. Peters Ave, Norman, OK. 73069. Burial will follow at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Oklahoma.
