Joe Larry Gibbons

Joe Gibbons, age 71, of Noble passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2024. Joe Larry Gibbons was born on November 30, 1952 in Albany, Georgia, the 3rd of 5 children born to Joseph Loy Gibbons and Helen Lucille (Turnage) Gibbons. The Gibbons family moved around from place to place as Joe's father was in the military. They eventually settled down in a small town called Nipomo, California to raise their family. Joe attended school and graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1970. Shortly after graduating, he answered the call to service. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country honorably and faithfully for a full four-year term. Joe spent much of his younger years in California before eventually making the move to Oklahoma to be closer to family. Joe was driven and dedicated to working hard every single day. Not only did he drive a truck for several years, but he also worked as a Cap 2 Associate at Walmart for numerous years. It was actually at Walmart where he was introduced to a woman named, Maria Elia Guardado Franco. They both worked at Walmart just in different departments, and after some heavy convincing she agreed to go on a date with him. The two quickly fell in love and were married on January 7, 2010. The rest, as they say, is history. Joe was very funny, sarcastic, genuine, and kind-hearted man. One of his greatest accomplishments in life was becoming a proud father to his five wonderful children, Melissa, Jaqueline, Joseph, Brandi, Jonathan, and Stephanie. They shared countless memories that will forever be cherished. In his free time, Joe enjoyed reading a good book and debating politics. He was always willing to inform you of his opinion! Joe also enjoyed watching tv, whether it was the history channel or football. He was a huge fan of the 49ers! More than anything, Joe was a family man. He loved spending time with his family and he truly cherished every moment with them. He will be dearly missed! He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph and Lucille Gibbons; beloved wife, Lynn (Cooper) Gibbons; and 3 brother-in-law's, John Daly, Steve Fernandes, and Milton Guardado. Joe is survived by: his loving wife, Maria Elia Guardado Franco of the home; 2 sons, Joseph Gibbons of Gillette, Wyoming and Jonathan Menjivar and wife Alexa of Tulsa; 4 daughters, Melissa Miller of Crescent City, California, Jaqueline Gibbons of Atascadero, California, Brandi Gibbons of Spokane, Washington, and Stephanie Menjivar of Oklahoma City; brother, James Gibbons and wife Christine of Atascadero, California; sisters, Mildred Daly of Noble, Judy Fernandes of Santa Maria, California, and Donna Pryor and husband Daniel of Noble; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
