Joe Harold Knapp

Joe Harold Knapp age 82 of Newcastle, passed away Saturday, December 08, 2012 at Grace Living Center in Norman. Joe was born on December 1, 1930 in Talihina, OK. His parents were Ual Knapp and Myrtle (Smith) Knapp. Joe grew up on a ranch in Talihina where he learned how to work hard as a young boy. At the age of 18 he enlisted into the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for several years. After being honorably discharged from the service he returned home and later began driving a truck. Joe grew up loving to drive on the ranch and being in the outdoors. His love for driving eventually led him to his lifelong career as a professional truck driver. Joe drove over the road for nearly 30 years for Lee Way Motor Freight from 1955-1984. He then drove for Yellow Freight for 3 ½ years before retiring in 1988 due to medical reasons. Joe married the love of his life, Reba Bernice Price on August 22, 1958 in OKC. Together they raised three children; Curtis, Joanna and Cindy. This past year Joe and Reba celebrated 54 years of marriage. Over their married years they lived in various towns in Oklahoma including, Newcastle, from 1965-1974, Bray, from 1974-1979, Dibble, from 1979-1993. In 1993 they sold their home, bought a travel trailer and for the next 13 years enjoyed traveling and living all across the U.S. On February of this year they moved back to Newcastle to be close to their daughter, Joanna. Throughout his life when he was not driving, Joe enjoyed staying at home and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching old western movies and reading western books. He was preceded in death by: Parents: Ual and Myrtle Knapp He is survived by: Wife: Reba Knapp of the home in Newcastle Three children: Son: Curtis Knapp Sr. of Norman 2 Daughters: Joanna Baker and husband Charlie of Newcastle Cindy Huddleston and husband Gary of Poteau One sister: Eual Dene Files of OK One half-sister: Kay Dean McBride of Stillwater Two step-sisters: Lou Culley and Linda Baugh, both of Talihina Four half-brothers: Eual Knapp of Sallisaw Gerald Knapp of Talihina Billy Knapp of Talihina Wesley Knapp of Talihina 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren Many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. Interment will be 3:30 pm at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle
