Joetta Meyer

Joetta Kane Meyer, age 87, of Wayne, Oklahoma passed from this life surrounded by loved ones on December 31, 2025. Joetta was born in Stonewall, Oklahoma on November 24, 1938. She was the third of six children born to Theodore Kane and Beulah May (Williams) Kane. The Kane family moved to Seminole when Joetta was a young girl. She was raised there and attended school at Pleasant Grove through the 8th grade. In 1952, Joetta married Gerald Dan Meyer in Van Buren, Arkansas. By the time she was 21 years of age, she had welcomed four children into the world. In 1963, the Meyer’s planted their roots in Wayne, Oklahoma and began their legacy farming while owning and managing a bull leasing company. She helped instill a love for animals to her children who continued to expand the family farm. Later in life, Joetta found her true passion being a proprietor in real estate. She purchased her very first rental property in 1990. Through hard work and determination, she obtained an extensive skill set and could fix almost anything—and if it was something she couldn’t fix, she knew just who to call. Working on houses was something she simply loved and enjoyed. This ultimately laid the foundation for the businesswoman she would later become. In her free time, Joetta enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, tending to her flower garden, country dancing, and gambling. However, nothing was more important to Joetta than family. She proudly bore the titles of Mom, Sister, Aunt, and Granny. She loved attending family reunions, cooking for holiday gatherings, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joetta’s entire life was one encompassed by working hard, caring for others, and having strong willed opinions and beliefs. She built and left a legacy behind by showing true grit and independence. She was simply one of a kind. Joetta will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Theodore and Beulah Kane; daughter, Joyce Davis and son-in-law, Larry Davis; sisters, Johnnie Sue Partain and Betty Young; brothers, James (Jim) Kane and Michael Kane. Joetta is survived by: her sons, Danny Meyer of Rosedale, Ted Meyer and wife Terrye of Wayne, and John Meyer of Wayne; sister, Pat Herman of Durant; 11 grandchildren, McKenzie Gordon and husband Chris of Edmond, Cassie Hays and husband Lendall of Purcell, Chelsie Semkoff and husband Jared of Tuttle, Justin Meyer and wife Tami of Norman, Josh Meyer and wife Ami of Purcell, Jessica Rountree and husband Scott of Norman, Julie Taliaferro and husband James of Wayne, Crystal Meyer of Norman, Andrew Davis of Wayne, Kacy Terrel and husband Travis of Wayne, Carly Terrell and husband Jordan of Wayne; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. A rosary service is scheduled from 6-7 P.M. Monday, January 5th at Little’s Chapel in Purcell. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 6th at Norman I.O.O.F cemetery.
