John Ragsdale

John Ragsdale, age 54 of Noble, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 in Noble at the High Cedar Residential Care Home. His parents were Thomas M. Ragsdale, Jr and Emma Lou Ragsdale Corder. John was born December 3, 1960 in Norman, Oklahoma where he attended school. He graduated from Deer Creek High School in 1978. John was mentally challenged but as an adult was able to live independently for many years. He had many friends in the Norman area and went daily to the Norman Mental Health Center not only for treatment but also to visit with his buddies. In September of 2007 he became a resident of the High Cedar Residential Care Home in Noble. Anyone that knew John knew he was an avid OU fan. His family said he wasn't just an avid fan he was an over the top avid fan. He loved anything with OU on it and collected OU memorabilia. John enjoyed watching western movies but especially loved to watch old John Wayne movies. His favorite band was Rush and he had attended a couple of Rush concerts with his life-long friend, Jeff. Before moving out to the country, John would go to the Norman YMCA where he and Jeff had fun weight lifting. John loved Christmas but he might have loved 4th of July even more. Every year he would go with Jeff to Elmore City to watch the fireworks which he thoroughly enjoyed. John was fondly referred to as a big teddy bear. He was never in a bad mood and always had a smile on his face. He was also very unselfish. Last Christmas he saved his spending money for several months to buy Fay, the owner of High Cedar, a clock to put in the dining room because he saw it and thought she needed it. John also had an exceptional memory. He never forgot anyone, even if he hadn't seen them in years. He also had an exceptional memory for facts regarding Norman history.
