Kathy Gale Wilkinson: A Life Full of Love, Laughter, and Adventure Kathy Gale Wilkinson (Goodwin) was born on April 28, 1957, in Carnegie, Oklahoma, as the second youngest of ten children to Elizabeth and Ulas Goodwin. Growing up in a bustling household, Kathy learned early on how to navigate the world with grace, humor, and a touch of mischief. From the prairies of Oklahoma to the bayous of Louisiana, Kathy made her mark with a heart as big as the sky and a laugh that could light up a room. After graduating from Carnegie High School in 1975, Kathy decided it was time for a new adventure. She packed her bags and headed to Louisiana, where she lived with her sister Ann and found work in the printing industry. Fate had a funny way of working, and it was in Louisiana that Kathy was set up on a blind date with a tough-as-nails Marine named Chuck Wilkinson. The stars aligned, sparks flew, and on November 13, 1976, Kathy and Chuck tied the knot in Baton Rouge. It was a love story for the ages, filled with laughter, strength, and a healthy dose of stubbornness—Chuck may have been a Marine, but he soon discovered that Kathy was the real commander-in-chief. He had met his match. Together, Kathy and Chuck built a successful landscaping and maintenance business, spending over 30 years turning yards into works of art. Kathy’s knack for fixing just about anything came in handy, and Chuck knew he was lucky to have her as both his business partner and his life partner. But Kathy was much more than a businesswoman; she was a loving wife and sister, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a fierce friend. On January 26, 1981, Kathy and Chuck’s greatest creation came into the world: their son, Joshua. From the moment he was born, Joshua became the center of Kathy’s universe. She poured all her love, wisdom, and humor into raising him, and he, in turn, became her pride and joy. When Joshua moved back to Oklahoma after college and married Martha, Kathy was over the moon to gain a daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren, Jarrett and Luisa. And just when life couldn’t get any better, along came little Brannoc on February 12, 2014, a delightful surprise that had Kathy and Chuck packing up and moving back to Oklahoma to be closer to their growing family. Kathy adored being a grandmother, and her grandkids were the apples of her eye. Kathy was the kind of woman who could do it all. She was smart, resourceful, and could fix just about anything with her two hands. She had a deep love for animals, especially her loyal dog Frankie Ray, and she was an avid hunter and fisher. Kathy was a Christian woman of deep faith, attending Grace Communion Surrey Hills whenever she could, and she lived her life with a strong sense of love and compassion for Jesus and others. On August 23, 2024, Kathy passed peacefully in her sleep, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and countless cherished memories. She has gone to join her beloved parents, her husband Chuck, and her brothers Tony and Tiny in the arms of Jesus. Kathy will be greatly missed by her son Joshua and daughter-in-law Martha, her cherished grandchildren Jarrett, Luisa, and Brannoc, her brothers Charlie, Conn, and Rick, her sisters Ann, Stella, Della, and Judy, and her many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. Kathy Gale Wilkinson was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a proud grandmother, an incredible sister, and a friend to many. Her laugh was contagious, her love was boundless, and her legacy will be one of kindness, strength, and an unwavering spirit. Kathy’s family will gather to celebrate her life at 10:30 am, Saturday August 31, 2024 at her home.
