Lynda Mae Moore

Lynda Mae Freeze was born June 12, 1944 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Lynda and her twin sister Glenda Fay Freeze were the last of eight children born to Arlie E. and Pearl G. (Sipes) Freeze of Mountain View Oklahoma. When Lynda and her sister turned 16 years (1960), the family moved to Purcell to a farm on Walnut Creek, west of the city, and the girls began attending Purcell High School. They really enjoyed the bigger high school. After graduating in 1962, Lynda was introduced to Leland Wesley Moore, the son of Allen and Sarah Moore of Purcell. They were married July 31, 1963 in Purcell and moved into a small apartment in Norman, where Leland was a student at the University of Oklahoma and in the Air Force ROTC. Lynda and Leland had eight children, raising six to maturity. Mrs. Moore was primarily a wife, mother and homemaker. Her husband was an Air Force Pilot during the Vietnam War, and was often on temporary duty away from home. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Moore began his career as a commercial airline pilot, which again took him around the world for extended periods. This understandably added to the duties of a homemaker. They made their home at various times in Norman, Oklahoma City, Del Rio Texas, Murfreesboro Tennessee, Anchorage Alaska, Moore Oklahoma, Purcell (near Woody Chapel), again Anchorage, and finally Goldsby. They were able to travel extensively around the US and the world. They were members and regular attendees of First Baptist Church Washington. Lynda loved visiting with her parents, sisters and brother, cousins, in-laws and friends. She loved hosting holidays and other get-togethers at her house for family and friends. She was also a traveling hostess, often leaving the house with a dish of homemade Lasagna, or pies and cakes ready to whip out at a moment's notice. After her children were grown, she began helping in and then running the kitchen at First Baptist Church and continued in that service until her declining health forced her to stop. She also baked cakes and desserts for the restaurant and patrons of the Harry Bear's in Moore, until it was closed. Lynda was preceded in death by her husband Leland on April 26, 2007. After several years widowed, Lynda met the widower JR Philips and they have been boon companions ever since. Lynda was also preceded in death by her parents Arlie and Pearl Freeze, her siblings Maxine Fuchs, Gene Freeze, Arlene Mitchell, Cleta Wooldridge, Delta Wear, Glenda Ward, an infant brother, two children, Lon Jason Moore and Luke Jared Moore, and one grandchild, Conner Wu Moore. Survivors include JR Phillips of Konawa, Oklahoma, and six children, Leslee Moore of Houston, Texas, Nicole Moore of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lorrin Moore and his wife, Christina, of Chicago, Illinois, Lance Moore and his wife, Michele, of Kingston, Oklahoma, Lana Crevier and her husband, Steve, of Krugerville, Texas and Landon Moore of Goldsby, Oklahoma, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and innumerable nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12-7 P.M. Friday, December 8, 2023 and family will be available from 6-7 P.M. to greet relatives and friends. Funeral services for Lynda (Freeze) Moore of Goldsby will be held 10:00 am, December 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church Washington with Rev. Davies Vanpool officiating. Following the service, interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell alongside her husband, Leland Moore, under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
