Lynn Shirley

Lynn Shirley age 66 of Purcell passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 10, 2016 after an extended illness. She was born April 5, 1950 in Charleston, West Virginia. She was the middle child of three children born to Curtis Sturgeon and Catherine (Brennan) Sturgeon. Mary Madeline Shirley was known as Lynn by her family and friends. She grew up in Martinsburg, WV and graduated high school there with the class of 1967. She later married Larry Lindsay and to this union they had two children, Chad and Kelly Lindsay. As tragedy would invade her life early, her daughter Kelly died at birth. In 1981, Lynn moved from WV to Seminole, OK. There she attended the Seminole Junior College and later transferring to the University of Oklahoma. While living in Seminole she began working at Mission Hill Hospital, which was the beginning of her life long career in the Medical field. In 1984 she transferred to Norman Regional Hospital, some years later transferring to the OU Medical Center, then back to Norman Regional where she retired as a Medical Administrator. While living in Norman, Lynn met and later married David Shirley. They were married on May 26, 1988 in Noman, OK. Now two families joined to become one beautiful home; with Lynn gaining a daughter, Ashley and David gaining a son, Chad. Lynn and David moved to a small acreage west of Purcell in 1998. There she enjoyed living in the country and being outdoors, spending time working in her yard and flower gardens. Lynn also loved "water", she and her family enjoyed many summers, swimming and boating at Arbuckle Lake. Lynn was a faithful Christian and was an active member of Cross Pointe Freewill Baptist Church in Norman. She was an avid OU sports fan and for many years she and David were OU Sooner Club Volunteers. She was a member of the Purcell Rotary Club and in her later years she spent many hours in her day, "Face Booking" her friends and family. Lynn was preceded in death by: Parents, Father, Curt Sturgeon and mother, Kitty Russell; Infant daughter, Kelly Lindsay; One brother, John Sturgeon; She is survived by: Husband, David Shirley of the home in Purcell; Son, Chad Lindsay and wife Kimberly of Norman, Daughter, Ashley Rial and husband Cameron of Norman; Brother, Dave Russell and wife Janna of Springfield, MO; Two sisters-in-law, Madge Hale of Maysville, Rowena Combs of Moore, Four grandchildren, who call her MiMi, Chantelle Lindsay, Tyler Lindsay, Carys Lindsay and Weston Rial. Several nieces and nephews, cousins and her special friend "Abby", her Yorkie. Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, April 15, 2016 at Cross Pointe Church in Norman, OK. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Send online condolences @wilsonlittle.com.
