Mary Jane Crosby

Mary Jane Crosby, 67, of Newcastle went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2019, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born on August 17, 1952, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of three children born to John Thomas Cobble and Garnet Evelyn (Hill) Cobble. Mary Jane grew up in Minco and graduated from Minco High School in 1970. While in school she met Gary Crosby, who became her high school sweetheart. One year later on June 12, 1971, they were married in Minco. Mary Jane and Gary together raised four children, Amanda, Melia, Suzanne and John and made Newcastle their home for the past 46 years. Mary Jane graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught 3rd grade for Moore Public Schools for 21years before retiring in 2012. Throughout her years in the class room, Mary Jane ensured every student who left her classroom could do math and multiply in song, and they could properly recite "Twas the Night before Christmas". Since retiring, Mary Jane lived everyday like it was the weekend. Mary Jane was a faithful Christian and a member of the Newcastle First Baptist Church since 1978. For many years she taught Sunday school and recently started a women's bible study. Mary Jane, or Mary Sunshine, as you may know her, was a true matriarch of her family. She was always the first person there in the time of need, offering her positive perspective on things. She found joy in every situation and helped other do the same. Her love for God, her husband and for her family was at the core of who she was. She found no greater joy than in her role as a mother and a Nana, always putting her family first. She always had the time for family, and there was never someone not welcomed in her home. She leaves behind an example of what it means to unconditionally love everyone around you with grace, understanding and kindness. She played a special role in all our lives. It is impossible to put into words what she meant to everyone. She was truly a light to all who met her. She was preceded in death by: Parents, Jake and Garnet Cobble. She is survived by: Husband, Gary Crosby of the home, Four children, Amanda Crosby of Newcastle, Melia Pittman and husband Ken of Newcastle, Suzanne Brown and husband Travis of Norman, John Crosby and wife Amber of Edmond. One sister, Suzanne Parker and husband Bill of OKC, One brother, Tom Cobble and wife Lela of Mustang. Eleven grandchildren, Parker, Gage, Mason, Conner, Collin, Cole, Hudson, Campbell, Bennett, Laine and Quinn. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle, OK. Flowers may be sent to Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 3132 Tri City Ave., Newcastle, OK 73065 the day before services.
