Norma "Janie" Williams

Janie Williams, age 78, of Wayne passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024. Norma Jane Williams was born on September 25, 1946 in Ozark, Arkansas, the 3rd of four children born to Richard Griffin Ladlee and Norma Ruth (Medors) Ladlee. Shortly after Janie was born, the Ladlee family moved to Wetumka, Oklahoma before eventually settling in Purcell around 1952. Janie was primarily raised in Purcell, where she attended school and graduated with the Dragon Class of 1964. In that same year, Janie went on a blind date and was introduced to a young man named, Fred Larry Williams. They had both previously seen each other around town on various occasions and were surprised, in the best way, to finally become acquainted. The two quickly fell in love and were married at Our Lady of Victory in Purcell in 1965. Together, Janie and Larry raised three beautiful children- Bill, Jolene, and Robert. Becoming a mother truly was one of her greatest accomplishments in life. Due to Larry’s line of work, the Williams family traveled around a lot and they lived in various places including Purcell, Broken Bow, Dumas, Texas, Harlingen, Texas, St. Louis, Missouri, Oklahoma City, Detroit, Michigan, Madison, Wisconsin, and Lawrence, Kansas. Wherever they traveled to, Janie made it feel like home! Janie was driven and dedicated to working hard every single day. Not only did she have an extensive background in banking, but she also worked as Human Relations Director for the USDA and as a Records Analysts for the National Military Records. No matter what position she held or what company she worked for, she always got the job done right! In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, decorating cakes, and traveling across the country in the RV. Janie was a woman of great faith and an active member in her church. Her love for Jesus was evident in everything she did. More than anything, Janie was a family woman. She truly enjoyed spending time and making memories with them all, but especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Janie was funny and intimidating all at the same time. She was fun-loving, caring, and beautiful inside and out. She enjoyed life and lived every day to the fullest. Janie will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Jolene Westbook; parents, Richard and Norma Ruth Ladlee; brothers, Earl Dean Ladlee and Richard G. Ladlee. Janie is survived by: her loving husband, Larry Williams of the home; sons, Bill Williams and wife Joyce of Pauls Valley and Robert Williams and wife Kalyn of Maysville; brother, Ron Ladlee and wife Kathy of Washington; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. The family will receive guests and relatives for a viewing and visitation from 3-5 P.M. on Sunday. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday October 14, 2024 at The Foundation Church in Maysville, Oklahoma.
