Paula Boydstun

Paula Ann Boydstun was born November 20, 1946 to Floyd and Opal Gwin in Lexington, Oklahoma. She was the second of the couple's seven children. Paula grew up with five ornery brothers, Ray, Kendall, Joel, Michael, and Dennis Gwin, and one lovely sister, Nancy Alverez. Paula attended Lexington High School and graduated with the Bulldogs' class of 1965. After graduation, Paula married Gary Miller and they had three children together, before separating later in life. Paula lived with Gary in Germany while he was stationed there during the Vietnam War. While stationed in Germany, Paula gave birth to her daughter, Leslie Gomez. Upon returning home, Paula settled in Moore, Oklahoma and had two more children, Emmett and Michael Miller. Paula was known for her toughness and sense of duty and patriotism. These traits helped her excel in her distinguished career working for the Department of Corrections, where she earned the Correctional Officer of the Year Award in 1988. Paula went on to earn nominations as Correctional Officer of the Quarter in both 1997 and 1998. After serving more than twenty honorable years with DOC, Paula retired in 2001. In her post-retirement years, Paula enjoyed bowling, watching tacky television shows, and visiting with her family. She loved cooking for her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to feed anyone she could. She was never more comfortable than when she was sitting in her recliner watching the Thunder with her cat in her lap and a diet coke in her hand. Her dark sense of humor may have been appalling to some, but it was one of her most recognized and appreciated qualities by her family. Paula was better known by some as "Pretty Beautiful Grandma." She lived for her grandchildren, Ben, Jessica, and Harrison Gomez, and Phillip, Spencer, and Patrick Miller. Paula became a great-grandma to Sandra, Blake, and Serena Miller, and was excited to learn of her newest great-granddaughter, Amelia Gomez. Paula was cremated in accordance with her wishes and her ashes were buried in the Lexington Cemetery alongside her mother's. Paula will be missed dearly, but her family may rest easy knowing that she is in a better place, waiting to reunite with them once again. A Celebration of Life Memorial is scheduled for 2:00 P.M.
