Rick McGee

Rev. Rick McGee, age 62 of Wayne, entered Heaven's Gates on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Ricky Lee McGee was born March 2, 1958 in Hazel Crest, IL, the oldest of three sons born to Earl and Nancy (Bentley) McGee. He was raised in Sauk Village, IL and graduated from Bloom High School, Chicago Heights, IL, in 1976. Rick followed his heart and answered the call to serve the Lord. He started school at Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, IL before moving to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma Baptist University. While in school, Rick met a young lady named Nancy Linn Krautlarger. They fell in love and were married on June 20, 1981 in Shawnee, and the following year, Rick graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Church Music. While a student, Rick served in a part-time capacity at Temple Baptist Church, Shawnee. After graduation, he and Nancy moved to Lindsay, where he worked with youth and led music at Calvary Baptist Church. From there it was on to Noble where he worked with youth at First Baptist Church. Rick entered full-time evangelism, founded the Champions for Christ ministry, and his heart for young people afforded him more than nine years in this capacity. Through his work, he became affiliated with First Baptist Church in Wayne, and began working there with the youth and music. By 2003, Rick was called as Pastor, and he served Wayne and the surrounding communities with his whole heart. He was a wonderful husband, father and Baba, son, brother, uncle and friend. Rest well faithful Servant! He was preceded in death by: his mother, Nancy (Bentley) McGee in 2016 and brother, Robin McGee in December of 2020. Sadly, Rick is followed in death by his brother Randy McGee. Rick is survived by: his wife Nancy of the home; two daughters, Lindy Duncan and husband Daniel of Maysville and Amy Deatherage and husband Shawn of Newcastle; his father, Earl McGee of Purcell; three grandchildren, Cortland, Bentley and Gwen, and a host of other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rick McGee Memorial Fund % of First Baptist Church in Wayne. Viewing will be 9:00-7:00, Monday, January 11, 2021 at Wilson-Little in Purcell.
