Ron Ivy

Ronald Dean Ivy was born on April 1, 1952 to William (Billy) Earl Ivy and Tinnie Bell (Stout) Ivy. Ron married the love of his life, Glenda Gay Garver on November 28th, 1975. For 41 years these two have traversed the highways, back roads, dirt roads and potholes of life. Ron's love was torn between the road and home. He was a humble, hard-working truck driver who logged miles all over the country to provide for his family. Roll On by Alabama soon became the family anthem as momma prayed "bring Daddy home...They sure missed him when he was gone, but he always called to tell them that he loved them." His dedication, work ethic, and desire to help others on and off the road were just some of the values he portrayed in front of his children. It is easy to understand why he became their hero. Ron never set out to change the world, but did so in his own way. Five kids; five people taught how to make a difference one day at a time. Terri became a nurse making a difference one life at a time. Dennis joined the Navy making a difference one voyage at a time. David became a teacher making a difference one student at a time. Daniel became a farmer, trucker and fire fighter making a difference one service at a time. Dustin joined the Army making a difference one fight at a time. All five are continuing to teach the lessons Ron taught to their kids one night at a time. Ron is now painlessly tending the animals in heaven and helping Papa Billy farm the fields. He is carrying on endless conversations with Robert Bruce at Granny Ivy's dinner table and using a 7 Ivy Cattle truck to enjoy the ride along the way. We will always keep Ron in the back roads of our minds... ROLL ON Babe, Roll On Dad, Roll On Papa, Roll On Brother, Roll On Ron, Roll On! Ron Ivy of Lexington, OK and Cleburne, TX passed away on July 18th, 2017 at the age of 65. He was preceded in death by: His parents: William and Tinnie Bell Ivy Brother-in-law: Robert Bruce Niece: Toni Bruce Ron is survived by: His wife: Glenda Ivy Daughter: Terri Fulton and husband Jeremiah Sons: Dennis Ivy and wife Melanie David Ivy and wife Alicia Daniel Ivy and wife Crystal Dustin Ivy and wife Victoria Sisters: Linda Ellis and husband Bill D'Ann Barck and husband Danny Brother: Larry Ivy 9 Grandchildren: Emma, Ella, Dean, Tess, Ryleigh, Katy, Arley, James and Elizabeth And a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Twelve Corners Baptist Church, 156th & Etowah Rd, Noble. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery.
