Rozena Gertrude Hassler AKA "Mona Ruth"

Rozena Gertrude Johnson Hassler aka Ramona Ruth Richardson was born June 30, 1940 to Elvin E. Johnson and Nellie Rosena Stroud Johnson. She was the only child born of this union; they each remarried after divorcing and had other children. She was known as Ramona Ruth, Mona Ruth, and Grandma Mona. Her Grandpa Stroud didn’t like her name and changed it to Ramona Ruth and Richardson was added when her mother married Jesse V. Richardson. She didn’t learn this until she was eighteen and needed her birth certificate for her driver’s license, that she wasn’t Ramona. She was legally Rozena Gertrude. At age 14 she started working for the public at the old 77 Café as a waitress. She worked in Food Service until her retirement from the Norman Veteran’s Center after 27 years of service. She worked in restaurants, cafes, and The Center Bar, working 6 years at Pete’s Café. She married Craig Beacher Hassler December 7, 1972. Her hobbies were playing Bingo and going on bus trips and watching old movies on TV. Her favorites were Grapes of Wrath and Seargent York. Mona is preceded in death by her dad, Elvin E. Johnson; her mother, Nellie Richardson; her daddy, Jesse V. Richardson; brothers, Jim Johnson, Sonny Richardson, Larry Richardson, Tony Richardson, Randy Richardson; sisters, Loretta Michaelson, Carmelita Mooneyham, Paula Forbes; mother-in-law, Ollie Hassler; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Hassler, Archie Hassler; Grandchildren, Bradley Johnson and Stori Horn. She is survived by her husband Craig of the home; her son, Roger Johnson and wife Stefanie of Noble, OK; her 4 grandchildren, Janette Johnson, Angela Lovett, Elisha Johnson, Casey Walth and one special granddaughter by proxy, MacKenzie Forbes; numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sister, Sue Perez of Chandler, Arizona; brother in law, Doyle Hassler and wife Peggy of Lindsay; sister in law, Aletha Smith “sister”. She was loved immensely and will be dearly missed. Viewing will be held Monday, July 21st from 9a.m.-7p.m. The family will receive friends and family on Monday July 21st from 5p.m.-7p.m. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
