Sharon Joyce Myers

Sharon Joyce Myers, age 74 of Purcell, passed away on March 17, 2026. Sharon Joyce (Gandy) Myers was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on July 28, 1951 to Thomas “Red” and Joyce (Ellis) Gandy. She was the 3rd out of 6 children. Sharon graduated from Pernell High School in 1969. She later received her bachelor’s degree from East Central University, where she majored in Chemistry and Biology while minoring in Child Psychology. Sharon married the love of her life, Roy Myers on July 28, 1976. The couple made their home in Purcell where they raised two amazing children, Jeff and Melissa. They were happily married for 49 years before her passing. Sharon was a strong, independent, Christian woman, who had a knack for making everyone feel special, seen and loved. She never let an opportunity escape to tell you, “I love you more.” She was known for her servant heart and often showed that love through her amazing cooking skills. Sharon could do anything she set her mind to, even making her own wedding dress. She had a gift for loving on children and treasured every moment she spent with kids. It wasn’t a job it was a calling, spending over 30 years as a volunteer children’s pastor and owning a home daycare for 26 years. Sharon attended Memorial Assembly of God for 42 years. She always sought an opportunity to share with others about Jesus. Second only to Jesus was her love for her husband, children, granddaughters, and family. She was always willing to make a special meal for her picky eaters, and devoted hours praying for her loved ones. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was loved deeply and will be missed immensely. 2 Corinthians 5:8 says “We are confident, I say and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” We are confident that Sharon is with her Lord and Savior now and we will see her again. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas “Red” and Joyce Gandy; her brothers, Jimmy Gandy and Danny Gandy; her sister, Linda Alred; her nieces, Joycelynn Ramirez and Anita O’Neal; her father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Mary Myers; and her brother-in-law, Raymond Myers. Sharon is survived by her husband, Roy Myers of the home; her son, Jeff Myers of Purcell; her daughter, Melisa Madden of Purcell; her granddaughters, Emily Madden and Halle Madden of Purcell; her sisters, Debbie Neal of OKC and Kathy Wesbrook and husband Kenny of Arkansas City, KS; her sister-in-law, Mary Rae Myers of Tecumseh, and a host of nieces and nephews, family, church family, and friends. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday, March 20, 2026, at Memorial Assembly of God. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
