Shirley Gwynn Teal-Jones

Shirley Gwynn Teal-Jones, age 82, passed away June 2, 2022, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Shirley was born on July 30, 1939, in Purcell, OK, to James Thomas Cavnar and Nora (Skaggs) Cavnar, the ninth of ten children. She left Purcell about the age of eight and moved to Spencer where she attended primary and middle school and then High School in Jones where she graduated a proud Longhorn with the class of 1957. By chance, she met a young man named Don Teal and they instantly hit it off. They got married and together they had two sons, Mark and Kelley Teal. After Don's sudden passing in California, she returned to Oklahoma with her boys where she later met and married Dalton Elvis (D.E.) Jones. Shirley committed her life to raising her boys and being the best mother she could be, and after the boys were grown, she embarked on a new career. Since Shirley loved people, she was a natural at serving others in their time of need and sold Pre-need insurance very successfully for several companies, and earned recognition as a top agent multiple times. Above all, she valued her faith in Jesus and her family. She served the Lord and loved others faithfully. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, one of everyone's favorite aunts, and a true friend. She smiled gorgeously, laughed infectiously, gave generously, served others graciously, sacrificed willingly, defended the weak, down trodden, and mistreated viciously, and loved liberally. She was preceded in death by her son, Kelley D. Teal; husbands Donal Dean Teal and Dalton Elvis Jones; grandson Tyler Teal; sisters Theo Mayo, Wanda Barnes, Juanita Woods, and brothers James, Leo, Edgar, Elmo and Willis Gene Cavnar. Shirley is survived by son Mark Teal and wife Dawn of Ada; sister Frances Bragg of Tahlequah; grandchildren Derek Teal of Cushing, Chandler Dillard of Ada, Court Teal of New York City, Donnell Teal and wife Meaghan of Edmond, and Amber Salazar or Purcell; Great-grandchildren Jaidyn Teal, Bradlee and Kohen Dillard, Lillian Jade Teal, Nathan, Aracely, Danial, and Alecia Salazar; several nieces and nephews that she adored, and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Wilson Little Funeral Home, 127 S. Canadian, Purcell, OK. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
