Stan Delaney

Stanley James Delaney age 68 of Purcell passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at his home after a battle with cancer. He was born on July 10, 1944 in Ada, Oklahoma. He was the 3rd child of four children born to James Delaney and Pearl (Anderson) Delaney. Stan grew up learning how to work hard as a farm boy living in the Noble and Norman areas. He attended Noble schools and graduated with the class of 1961. At the age of 12, Stan got his first job as a shoe shine boy. This was the starting of a lifetime of his hard work ethic. Throughout his life he owned and operated various retail businesses including, a liquor store, selling plants and garden supplies and operating a tire repair shop. In his later years he worked as a custodian at the Purcell High School before retiring. Stan married Wanda Powell on June 24, 1994 and together they made their home in the Purcell and Lexington area. Stan loved his family, his community and his church. He was a member of Grace Chapel Church in Lexington and he and Wanda enjoyed going to the Purcell Senior Citizens Center. In his earlier years, He enjoyed roller skating and throughout his life he enjoyed dancing. He was preceded in death by: Parents: James and Pearl Delaney, Infant Daughters: Tammy Lee and Scarlett Ann, Son-in-law: Dennis Trent He is survived by: Wife: Wanda of the home in Purcell Six children: Sons: Tim Evans and wife Jeannie of Norman, Tom Dolan of Wichita, KS, Sean Dolan and wife Cindy of St. Louis, MO. Daughters: Karen Sue Lee of Wanette, Michelle Dolan of Tulsa, Wendy Trent of Purcell Three brothers: Junior Delaney of Madill, Othel Delaney and wife Alma of Maysville, Bob Delaney and wife Shelly of Lexington, A brother-in-law: Bill Powell and wife Holly of Apache, OK, Also numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 20, 2013 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. A private interment will be at the Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Purcell Senior Citizens in c/o the First American Bank in Purcell.
