Terry McCaskill

Terry Randol McCaskill, age 71 of Purcell, passed away on December 24th, at Norman Regional Hospital. Terry was born the oldest of six on June 2nd, 1950, to Bobby Francis McCaskill and Melba Rahe McCaskill (Cariker). He moved around a bit in his early childhood before his family finally settled in Purcell. Terry attended Purcell Schools and graduated with the Dragon class of 1968. In the summer of 1969, Terry married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sandra Kay Whatley on June 21st, at Our Lady of Victory church in Purcell. They were blessed with four children and made their home in Purcell. Terry was in the lumber business for 52 years. He began at Sutherlands Lumber, Carey Lumber Co., and Blanchard Building Center before spending the majority of his career at Fox Building Supply. For many years he served on the board of the Lumberman's Association, having achieved lifetime membership of service. He also received many sales accolades, including the Top Salesman awards for several years. Terry even enjoyed bringing his work home with him, building handcrafted toys, swords and furniture for his kids and grandkids. When he wasn't working, Terry enjoyed spending his free time playing a variety of sports with many of his lifelong friends and family members. As he got older, he became an avid golfer, which allowed him the ability to spend time with his two sons and many others he considered his family and dearest friends. He loved coaching his children when they played little league sports, and he remained active in adult league sports himself playing softball, basketball, and bowling. He was a true family man and loved spending time with his wife and kids, especially while enjoying a good meal together. Terry was a musical man as well, he played guitar and even played with a rock n' roll group in his younger years called The Renegades. He had a long-time association with Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell as he grew closer to the Lord. Terry will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Melba McCaskill, and his two-year-old son, Kevin Scott McCaskill. He is survived by his wife, Sandra of the Home. His brothers Bobby McCaskill Jr and wife Jeannie of Collinsville, OK, Steven McCaskill and wife Debbie of Purcell, and David McCaskill of Norman. His sisters Debbie Willis of Washington, and Donne Breland and husband Scott of Sapulpa, OK. His sons, Mike McCaskill and wife Jana of Goldsby, Jeff McCaskill and wife Kelly of Moore and his daughter Chelle McCaskill of Purcell. Terry also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Caylin Nimmo, Trevor Nimmo, Emily McCaskill, Reid McCaskill, Dominic McCaskill, Radek McCaskill, and Max McCaskill. Funeral Services are set for 2:00 pm Thursday, December 30th at Little's Chapel in Purcell, OK with burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
