Vivian June Horine

Vivian June Horine went home to be with her Lord and Savior and loved ones on February 3, 2018. She was 99 years old. Vivian was born on December 24, 1918 to William Washburn and Effie Mae Mustain in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas. She travelled with her family, when she was five years old, by covered wagon to make their home in the Needmore Community in Bernice, Oklahoma. The family moved to Afton, Oklahoma when she was 8 years old and she entered the fourth grade at Hawthorne Elementary School. Vivian graduated from Afton High School in 1936 as valedictorian of the senior class. She then attended Northeastern A&M College in Miami and summer sessions at Northeastern State Teachers College (now Northeastern State University) in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she earned certification to teach school during World War II. She taught grades one through eight in one room country schools in Smith School District and Noel School District in the Afton area. Later she would substitute at Afton High School. She also worked many years in the offices of Johnson Hospital in Afton and Bradshaw Memorial Hospital in Miami. Vivian became a Christian at an early age and served the Lord by teaching Sunday School classes for the children at First Baptist Church in Afton. When she and Donna moved to Miami, she taught an adult men's and women's class at Northwest Baptist Church in Miami for over 40 years. She loved teaching and the members in her classes. Vivian moved to Purcell, OK in August 2008. She lived at Westbrook Gardens where she made many lasting friendships. Among them, the ladies at "The Table" and a very special friend is Glen Clift, all of whom continue to live at Westbrook. Every member of the staff at Westbrook held a special place in her heart as well. She also so enjoyed her time with friends at Ruby's Café in Purcell. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and looked forward to Sundays when she could go to church to worship and visit with friends. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, George Collins and Kenneth Horine; her beloved daughter Donna Carolyn Littlefield; grandson Brent Keith Vinyard; son-in-law Richard Vinyard; six sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter Marjorie Ann Panter of Purcell; her son Dr. Kenneth L. Collins and wife Marsha of Tahlequah; and Donna's husband, David Littlefield, of Norman. Grandchildren Teresa June Pollok and husband Mike, Machelle McQueen and husband Ed, Kale Littlefield and Kenna Littlefield. Great granddaughters Brandi Pollok Steiner and husband Paul, Anna Pollok, Madison McQueen Monhollon and husband Seth, Mary Pollok and Camryn Rose; great great grandchildren Wyatt, Waylon and Vivian Steiner. The marriage of Vivian and Kenneth Horine enriched us all by uniting two families. She is survived by the children of her heart, Jane Ann Duffield and husband Bill of Grove, OK and Jon Horine and wife Susan of Kingwood, TX. She was preceded in death by K.O. Horine and Bill Horine. Also surviving her are grandchildren Keri Henry and husband David, Daryl Patterson and wife Kelly, Tyler Horine and wife Stephanie, Zach Duffield and wife Sami. Jacob Horine, Matthew Horine and wife Stephanie, Kyle Horine, and Kelsie Horine. Great grandchildren are Ashlyn and Madison Pulliam, Jacob and Ryan Patterson, Abbey and Katy Horine, Jaxon, Jesi and Jordi Duffield. Vivian is also survived by a host of family and friends. She was a beautiful person who was very kind, loving and had a beautiful smile for everyone. She will be missed. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, at First Baptist Church in Purcell at 11:00 a.m. A visitation and viewing will be held in Purcell at Wilson-Little Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 6 from 6-8 p.m. send online condolences @www.wilsonlittle.com. On Thursday, February 8, there will be a viewing/visitation at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami from 10-11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Glen Abbey Cemetery in Miami at noon on Thursday. In lieu of flowers Vivian requested donations to First Baptist Church in Purcell and Northwest Baptist Church in Miami.
