Weldon Gene Wade

Weldon Gene Wade was born June 2, 1945 in Purcell, Oklahoma and departed this life on June 12, 2024 at the age of 79. Gene was the oldest of two children born to Weldon Reetis Wade and Wanda Louise (Richardson) Wade. He was born and raised in Purcell where he attended school and graduated with the Dragon Class of 1963. Shortly after graduating high school, he attended Okmulgee State Technical School to obtain certifications and licenses for HVAC and Refrigeration. Gene went straight into the workforce, working on both HVAC and Refrigeration repairs. He went on to own and operate his own business, Commercial Maintenance, for nearly 40 years. It has been said time and time again that Gene should've been born 100 years earlier than he was; He truly was an Old West Cowboy through and through. He was a simple man and he lived life on his own terms. In his younger years he was an avid coon hunter and team roper. He passed on his love of the western lifestyle to his kids and spent most weekends hauling them to ropings & rodeos while they were growing up. He enjoyed fishing & hunting, especially with his family. In his later years his most favorite thing was to spend time on his farm. Gene was a handy man, and he could fix just about anything. He was always willing to lend a helping hand & you could always count on him to give some advice....whether you asked for it or not! Gene could be stubborn and onery at times (a lot of times!) but he was good at heart. He also loved to debate and argue, even if he was just arguing for the sake of an argument. Gene was never one to just go along, again always doing things his way. He was a little bit of an outlaw. But more than anything, Gene was a family man. He loved his family with his whole heart, and he truly cherished every moment spent with them. 6 years ago a stroke drastically changed his life but in true Gene Wade style, he met all challenges with toughness & cowboy grit, keeping his well known sense of humor and quick wit to the very end. Gene was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed by so many! He was preceded in death by: his parents, Weldon and Wanda Wade; brother-in-law, Doyle Reinhardt; son-in-law, Frank Van Buskirk; and infant great granddaughter Witlee Wade Gene is survived by: his lifelong love, Agnes Wade Wells of Ringling Ok; 3 children, son Stephen Wade and wife Shelly of North Richland Hills Texas, son Stacy Wade and wife Tara of Purcell Ok, and daughter, Susan Van Buskirk of Ringling Ok; 9 grandchildren, Cooper Wade of Paradise Texas, Colby and Caleb Wade of North Richland Hills Texas, Matthew Wade and wife Kenzie of McCloud OK, Miranda and Michael Wade of Purcell OK, Sam, Madison and Aubrey Van Buskirk of Ringling Ok; 3 great-grandchildren, Ryder Wade of North Richland Hills Texas, Cash Wade of Paradise Texas, Waylon Wade of McCloud Ok; sister Terry Reinhardt of Purcell Ok; niece, Amanda Reinhardt and children Casey Clary and Raegan Wilson of Purcell Ok; nephew, Wade Reinhardt, wife Anna and son Colton of Mead Ok and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 17, 2024 at Little's Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. www.wilsonlittle.com
