Weltha Mae Tooley

Some people leave behind memories. Others leave behind a legacy of love that continues through generations. Weltha Mae (Hume) Tooley - affectionately known to nearly everyone as "Nanny Mae" was one of those rare people whose kindness, faith, and unconditional love touched every life she encountered. Weltha peacefully entered her heavenly home on July 09, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 95. Born on June 02, 1931, in Oklahoma City to Francis and Nona Hume, Weltha graduated high school and married her childhood sweetheart, Jack Tooley on October 15, 1949. They began their family in Oklahoma City, however, their dream of country life led them to move to their forever home in 1967, just Southwest of Purcell, where they built a home filled with faith, laughter, and unconditional love and finished raising a family that would become Weltha's greatest blessing. Weltha wore many hats. Not only was she a wife, mother and grandmother, but for more than three decades, Weltha opened not only her home but also her heart through Nanny Mae's Daycare. Countless children found love, comfort, encouragement and a safe place in her care. Long after they had grown up and started families of their own, many still returned to visit the woman who had helped shape their childhoods. There was no greater compliment, and it brought her immeasurable joy. She enjoyed camping, being treated to mani-pedis, going to church, looked forward to the annual trip to the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering in Ft. Worth, and never hid her love for sweets. She often joked that if she had her way, dessert would come before every meal! Even into her nineties, she remained remarkably active and fiercely independent. But above everything else, her greatest joy was her family. Whether sharing Sunday dinners, celebrating holidays, or simply sitting together visiting, those were the moments she treasured most. She leaves behind her children; Dennis Tooley and wife, Lala, of Austin, TX, Steve Tooley and wife, Ellen, of Purcell, OK, Keith Tooley and wife, Caroleene, of Ninnekah, OK and Kathy Tucker and husband, Kenny, of Lexington, OK. She was also the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carried a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jack Tooley, and by her cherished grandsons, Jeff Chilvers and Colton Tooley, who were taken far too soon. While we mourn the loss of the woman we loved so dearly, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived. Her legacy lives on in every child she nurtured, every life she touched, and every member of her family who was blessed to know her love. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her. To the world she may have been Weltha Mae Tooley. To those who loved her... She will always be Nanny Mae.
