Arie Leon Vaughn

Leon Vaughn age 74 of Purcell passed away on January 12, 2026 in Norman. Arie Leon Vaughn was born on March 30, 1951 in Purcell, OK to Arie Monroe Vaughn and Roberta Jaquline Vaughn (Alsup). He grew up in Woody Chapel and attended school in Washington and graduated with the Warrior class of 1969. After graduation he attended Murry State for two years, and SWOSU for two years, earning his Bachelors in Recreation and Park Management. He fell in love with a young girl, Dianna June Carter, they were married on June 23, 1972 and shared 53 wonderful years together. While working in Enid, Leon was involved in an industrial accident in 1973 which paralyzed him from the waist down. While the injury limited his mobility, it did not hinder his faith. He was a God-fearing man of prayer, and attended Trinity Holiness Church in Blanchard since he was a teenager. After learning to function with his injury, Leon found work as a welder in the oil field in the early 1980s. For a brief time, he returned to further his education at USAO, but he remained a welder until he retired. Leon loved to farm, raise cattle, and fishing. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family, and visiting with anyone he could find. Leon was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, and brother who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arie and Jacquline Vaughn. Leon is survived by his wife, Dianna of the home. His children, Corennia Holland and husband Troy of Norman, Roger Vaughn and wife Jennifer of Purcell, and Clay Vaughn of Norman. His siblings, Harold Vaughn and wife Shelia of Purcell, and Peggy Tinnin and husband Glen of Purcell. He also leaves behind eleven precious grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday January 15, 2026 at Trinity Holiness Church in Blanchard, OK with burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. The family will receive friends and guests Wednesday January 14, from 5-7 pm at Wilson-Little, Purcell. Due to a sever allergy within the family, they please request everyone refrain from sending hydrangeas, thank you.
