Bill Tomlin

Pastor Bill Tomlin, age 85 of Norman, and formerly of Purcell, entered the Gates of Glory on Sunday, August 15, 2021. Billy Don Tomlin was born June 12, 1936 in Carter, OK, the older of two children born to Major Elmer Tomlin and Cora Winnie (Aldridge) Tomlin. Bill was raised near Retrop were he attended school. By chance, while at church in nearby Highway, Bill met a young lady named Carol Sue Mooney. They were young and in love and the perfect couple. On June 22, 1954, Bill married the Love of his life Carol. The early years for this young family were spent living in Oklahoma and Texas, where they welcomed their daughters, Darla and Billie. Bill answered the call to service and surrendered his heart to preaching the gospel. Side by side, Bill and Carol ministered to various churches in Illinois, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas, before settling in Purcell in 1987. Bill never really retired, and continued to minister, only now as a Chaplain for Good Shepherd Hospice. He was a gifted musician, and loved playing guitar. Bill was very proud of his work with The Sounds of Joy Gospel Trio, and sharing the love of God whenever the opportunity presented itself. Bill's life was never the same after Carol passed. He tried to remain positive and was fiercely devoted to his family. He was known by various names Billy Don, Dad, Pawdad, Pastor Bill, Uncle Bill and Uncle Uber. He always looked forward to visiting family and friends. His last few years were spent with his daughter Darla in Norman. He spent countless hours with his side kick, Little Bit and even grew fond of Darla's fur baby, Bode. Bill cherished his family, and would light up at the just the thought of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Only Heaven knows the number of people Bill has blessed. He will be greatly missed, but his influence will live on through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He truly fought the good fight, and finished his race. Rest well Brother Bill. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Carol; his parents, Major and Cora Tomlin and son-in-law, Charlie Corea. Bill is survived by: his daughters, Darla Higgins of Norman and Billie Small of Watauga, TX; His sister, Darlene Higgins of Elk City; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Corea of Norman, Jon Corea and wife Kenie of Norman, Kimberly Small and husband Richard Sugrue of Holyoke, MA and Whitney Lloyd and husband Jason of Ft. Worth; 4 great grandchildren, Ashton Corea and BriAnne Lloyd and Rowan and Ada Sugrue, and a host of other friends and family. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Little's Chapel, Wilson-Little. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on our website, www.wilsonlittle.com
