Bob Thomas

Bob Thomas, son of Rue and Mary Thomas was born Oct 18, 1933, in Richardson, AR. In the 1940's Rue moved his family to southern Idaho. They became farmers. In 1951 Bob met Rosa Lee Florence, daughter of Virgil Florence. Virgil was a Free Will Baptist pastor, church planter and evangelist from Oklahoma. Through his godly influence the Thomas Family met Jesus. Their lives changed for good, forever. Bob and Rosa Lee married Nov 14, 1952. In 1954, their only child, Bobby Lee was born. Bob trusted and loved God, His work and His people. He had a passion to build churches and bring people to Christ. He and Rosa Lee lived much of their lives in Colorado, planting Free Will Baptist Churches in Greeley and Fort Collins. He was dedicated to his denomination and their efforts to do their part in God's Kingdom. Bob was a consummate outdoorsman. He loved to fish & hunt. His internal compass was spot on. He always had his bearings and knew the best way back to camp. People in the woods with Bob were in good hands. Bob was a farmer at heart. He was driven to grow huge, productive gardens. He enjoyed sharing his "summer fruit". In some ways he squashed us all to death! Bob loved his family. He took good care of Rosa Lee. He was a great dad and an even better grandpa. He invested heavily in his son and his grandsons, Benjamin and Joshua. He enjoyed being Great Grandpa Bob to seven grandchildren, Nathaniel, Hannah, Sophie, Eliot, Hudson, Graham and Annabelle. Bob died at home Feb 27, 2024, graced by God's unmistakable presence, especially in his dying moments. He is preceded in death by his wife Rosa Lee, his parents, and his siblings, Roy, Pauline, and Ronnie. He is survived by Bobby Lee and his wife Rhonda Jo, their sons Benjamin and Joshua, their wives, Holly and April, and those seven great grandchildren who gave him great joy. Bob loved his brother-in-law, Carol Florence. He and his wife Alene were wonderfully attentive to Bob's needs. We praise God for His salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Bob Thomas often said, "God has been good to me. I have lived a great life". He was right. Bob was and still is rich beyond measure. Glory to God in the highest.
