Bobby "Bob" Dwayne Huddleston

Bob Huddleston, age 90, of Purcell passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Bobby Dwayne Huddleston was born on January 19, 1936 in Purcell, Oklahoma, the oldest of six children born to Curtis Huddleston and Lois Ethyl (Goss) Huddleston. He was raised in Purcell, where he attended Goins Country school and graduated from Purcell High School with the Dragon Class of 1954. After graduating he attended Oklahoma State University for a short period of time. While in high school, Bob caught the eye of a young woman named, Ruby Marie Harper. The two quickly fell in love and were married on August 20, 1955 at the Huddleston family farm west of Purcell. Their love story is built on countless memories, laughs, adventures, and enough of love to last a lifetime. Together, Bob and Marie cherished and raised their four beautiful children - Bob, Melony, Kent, and Montez. Bob instilled in each of them the value of hard work. Bob was driven and dedicated to working hard every single day. He always showed up and gave his best. He began his career at Halliburton and later joined his dad at Curt & Son IGA before venturing out and building his own grocery store in Newalla - Pecan Valley Junction; He truly enjoyed the freedom of being his own boss and serving the people of the community. Bob eventually retired in 2003. From a young age Bob loved traveling, exploring, and seeking new adventures; he was a licensed pilot, scuba diver, photographer, hunter and gun enthusiast. Bob also enjoyed rebuilding tractors and cars (his 37 John Deer and 53 Chevy), going to the lake, skiing, and taking trips to the mountains. Bob was also a man of great faith. He truly had a servant’s heart, and his love for Jesus was evident in everything he did. He was a charter member of Union Hill Baptist Church, was instrumental in building Pecan Valley Baptist Church in Newalla, and more recently a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington. More than anything, Bob was a family man. He truly cherished every moment spent with them and every memory they shared. Bob was a one-of-a kind man who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Curtis and Lois Huddleston; sister, Janis Jones; brothers, Dale Huddleston and Roy Huddleston, and infant brother, Danny Michael Huddleston. Bob is survived by: his loving wife, Marie Huddleston of the home; sons, Bob Huddleston and wife Maggie of Purcell, and Kent Huddleston and wife Jamie of Decatur, Texas; daughters, Melony Little and husband Randy of Wayne, and Montez Northcutt and husband Doug of Lexington; brother, Keith Huddleston and wife Sandy of Rosenberg, Texas; sister-in-law JoAnn Huddleston of Dibble;14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Monday, March 9th. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the First Baptist Church in Lexington.
