Colleen Waggoner

Colleen Waggoner, age 87, of Washington passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024. Margie Colleen Waggoner was born on February 7, 1937 in Washington, Oklahoma, the 2nd of 3 children born to William Cleo "Skeet" Moody and Jewell (Marcum) Moody. She was raised in the Washington area where she attended school and graduated with the Warrior Class of 1955. Colleen married her high school sweetheart, Doyle Gene Waggoner on Valentine's Day in 1953. Colleen and Gene had filed for their marriage license in Oklahoma County not knowing they had to marry in the county the license was issued. They spoke their vows on the Cleveland/Oklahoma county line in front of their car's headlights and their love for each other lasted 67 years. They made their home primarily in Washington, and together they raised 3 children, sons, Randy and Dennis, and daughter, Laura. Colleen was driven and dedicated to working hard every single day. She did some clerical work for the State Hospital before working as the Secretary to the Editor and Chief at the University of Oklahoma for nearly 28 years. In her free time, she enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, and even bowling in her younger years. Colleen was truly a one-of-a-kind lady and she was always the perfect example for her family to look up to. She was sweet, genuine, quirky, and outspoken. More than anything, Colleen was a family woman. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She truly cherished every moment with them. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: her loving husband, Gene Waggoner; her two sons, Randy and Dennis; parents, William "Skeet" and Jewell Moody; sister, Gwen Williamson and brother-in-law, Andy Williamson and infant baby sister, Darla. Colleen is survived by: her daughter, Laura Shaver and husband Jerry of Washington; her 4 pride and joy grandchildren, Ashley Adams and husband Chance of Washington, Christian Ball and wife Grace of Norman, Gage Simmons and Tony Simmons, both of Washington State; 1 great-grandchild, Arro Adams; her loving caregivers, Donna and Teresa and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Little's Chapel. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery. www.wilsonlittle.com
