Donnie Geraldine Blackwell

Donnie Geraldine Blackwell age 90 of Purcell, passed away peacefully at home surround by her family on Sunday, March 26, 2017. She was born April 23, 1926 in Purcell, Oklahoma. She was an only child born to Freddy Omer Lockmiller and Lucille Jane (Wiley) Lockmiller. Geraldine grew up a farm girl living southwest of Purcell in the Fairview Community. As a young girl she learned how to work hard by working in the cotton and broomcorn fields. She first attended the Fairview country school before going to school at Wayne. On June 16, 1942 she married "Jack" Blackwell and together they raised two children; son, Jackie and daughter, Rhonda. During WWII, Geraldine and Jack lived in California for two years. After the war she returned home to Purcell. She worked for many years at Storm Fishing Lure Company in Lindsay, Oklahoma. In 1983, Geraldine and her children, Jackie and Rhonda started a business together on main street in Purcell called Jackie's Jackets. For over 21 years they sold retail clothing and monogramed all kinds of apparel. Geraldine dedicated her life at being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She supported her children and grandchildren in all of their school activities, from 4-H projects to FFA events. She also took part in running the family farm and was a member of the Purcell Home Demonstration Club. Geraldine was a faithful Christian, and was a charter member of the Union Hill Baptist Church that was established in 1950. For many years she helped teach in the three years old department and helped out where ever she was needed. For enjoyment, Geraldine and Jack played dominoes for 40 years with three other couples. She was a fabulous cook, she enjoyed gardening, canning and quilting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by: Parents, Omer and Lucy Lockmiller; Husband, Jack Blackwell; Son, Jackie Blackwell on July 30, 2010 Daughter-in-law Betty Greiner Blackwell Daughter, Rhonda Bloodworth on Nov. 24, 2016; She is survived by: Son-in-law, Charles Bloodworth of Purcell; Four grandchildren, Sherry Kraus and husband Stephen of Purcell, Michelle Lynch and husband Tony of Purcell, Scott Bloodworth and wife Jennifer of Purcell, Shawn Bloodworth and wife Lori of Purcell; 10 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, Other loving relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. The family will have a visitation and receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Her interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
