Gabriele Wethern

Gabriele Wethern, age 67, of Lawton passed away unexpectedly on December 14, 2024. Gabriele Renate Elisabeth Heinlein was born on November 30, 1957 in Germany, the oldest of three children born to Josef Heinlein and Elisabeth (Staudinger) Heinlein. She was raised in Germany, where she graduated high school and also obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Nuremberg. At around the age of 22, Gabriele made the move to the United States. She wanted to continue her education and adventure further into this thing we call life! Gabriele not only obtained her Master’s degree from Cameron University in Lawton, but she also came close to completing her Doctorate degree from the University of Oklahoma. She was driven, dedicated, and deeply passionate about education and her work within the field of education. Gabriele was a professor for Cameron University for nearly 15 years, and she later transitioned into the role of a geography teacher for Eisenhower Middle School. She truly had a passion for investing in students and children, encouraging them to reach their goals and true potential. Gabriele dedicated nearly 40 years of her life to serving in the educational field in various capacities. One of her biggest accomplishments in life was becoming a mother to her two beautiful children, Joy and Alan. They shared countless memories that will forever be cherished. In her free time, Gabriele enjoyed reading and fostering animals. She also collected cookbooks, which fueled her love for baking bread and a countless number of other deserts and goodies! Gabriele was very loving, thoughtful, generous, creative, and adventurous in nature. She had a heart of gold, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone. More than anything, Gabriele was a family woman. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Gabriele was a loving mother, Nanna, sister, and a true friend. She was a one-of-a-kind woman who will be missed by all who knew and loved her! She was preceded in death by: her parents, Josef and Elisabeth Heinlein, and her brother, Thomas Heinlein. Gabriele is survived by: her daughter, Joy Crandall and husband Aaron of Newcastle; son, Alan Wethern of Los Angeles, California; brother, Markus Heinlein and wife Nadine of Germany; two grandchildren, Bailey and Charlotte, and a host of other family and friends. www.wilsonlittle.com
