Jerry McWhirter

Jerry McWhirter, age 79 of Lexington, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015, surrounded by his family at home. Jerry Don McWhirter was born May 8, 1936 in Maysville, OK, the oldest of four children born to Earnest John "EJ" McWhirter and Anita Faye (Bennett) McWhirter. He was raised in Maysville and attended school there, graduating in 1954. On September 17th of that same year, Jerry married a young lady from Elmore City named Wilma Jean Russell. Together they raised four children; sons, Terry Don and Wayne and daughters, Vicki and Debbie. They made their home primarily in Lexington, but lived in various places following Jerry's work in the oilfield. Jerry also called Maysville home for nearly 20 years, before settling back home in Lexington in 2005. Jerry worked for more than 50 years in the oilfield industry. He worked in various capacities over the years, retiring as a self-employed consultant. When not working, Jerry was always tinkering on and restoring antique cars and never missed an opportunity to frequent the car shows. Jerry was family man first; he cherished Wilma and his kids and especially loved being a grandpa. He will be dearly missed! He is preceded in death by: His parents, EJ and Anita McWhirter and 2 sons, Terry Don WcWhirter and Wayne McWhirter. Jerry leaves behind: His wife, Wilma of the home; 2 daughters, Vicki Perkins of Purcell and Debbie Borrello and husband Vince of Ft. Worth, TX; Sister, Patricia Coffey and husband Russell of Hinton, OK; 2 brothers, Johnny McWhirter and wife Carol of Lexington and Virgil Doyle McWhirter and wife Julie of Maysville; 5 grandchildren, Mike McWhirter of Lexington, Tony Perkins and wife Leann of Moore, Kyle Borrello and wife Lane of Ft. Worth, Cassidy Borrello of Ft. Worth and Jessica McWhirter of Lexington; 8 great grandchildren, Chloe and Jacob Perkins, Avery McWhirter, Evan and Leighton Borrello, Aidyn Torres, and Paisley and Tinsley Compton and daughter-in-law, Lisa Shea McWhirter, Lexington, OK Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
