John David Hilderbrand

John David Hilderbrand, age 65 of Oklahoma City, formerly of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 28, 2022. John was born May 13, 1957 in Phoenix, the third of four children born to Donald Earl Hilderbrand and Joyce Ruby (Wells) Hilderbrand. He was raised in Arizona, graduating from Paradise Valley High School in 1975. Around that time he met Shawna Williams through the rodeo circuit where he competed as a bull rider. They were married in November of 1977 and not long after started a family, planting roots in both Arizona and Oklahoma. Together they raised four children; daughters, Holly and Beth, and sons, Ty and Eli. John worked primarily as a truck driver, logging countless miles from coast to coast and through the Alaskan tundra. He enjoyed motorcycles, guns, movies and music, currently teaching himself to play the guitar. John overcame many challenges in life, experiencing both joy and heartache. Losing both of his boys changed him forever, but through his grief developed a renewed dedication to his faith and a closer relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He had recently moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to his daughters, Beth and Holly, and his grandkids. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and a true friend. He will be dearly missed! He was preceded in death by: his sons, Ty and Eli; his mother, Joyce Sarchett and his father, Don Hilderbrand. John is survived by: his daughters, Holly Wills and husband Bronson of Derby, KS Beth Hyde and husband Justin of Purcell, and Cheyenne Russell of Palmer, Alaska; his step father, Chip Sarchett Sr. of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Mary Ann McLaughlin and husband Rick of Vernon, AZ and Roberta Owens of Phoenix; brothers, Red Hilderbrand of New River, AZ, Chip Sarchett Jr. and wife Tricia of Desert Hills, AZ and Nick Sarchett and wife Jody of Desert Hills, AZ; 10 grandchildren, Cailin Stuever and husband Tyler, Bailey Hyde, Coy Hyde, Triston Wills, Taidon Wills, Sophie, Landon, Eli and Amelia Hilderbrand, and Rosie Russell-Rogers; one great grandchild, Stella Stuever, and one more on the way. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 9, 2022, at Goldsby Church. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery. www.wilsonlittle.com.
